It’s knit o’clock! Mañana, y’all!!
Howdy all! I’ve been reading, lurking mostly, but have been keeping up.
You know, I think the Girl Scouts is a fine organization and all, but geeze louise, what is going on with the annual cookie drive?! It seems like the cost keeps going up and the packages keep getting smaller and smaller! Thin mints are my pick and I just looked at the size of the sleeve and it is quite noticably smaller. And the cookies cost more! WTH?
Having had snow on Tuesday, the temps are back up in the 70s today and I feel like I’m burning up! Maybe I have a bit of a fever, I don’t know, but I’m uncomfortable, and our cooler won’t be turned back on until probably the middle of April  My window is staying open tonight … hopefully I’ll be able to sleep okay.
Hope everyone is enjoying the countdown to Easter. Have a safe journey to those traveling. I can’t believe BBBBBobbio is considering having the bunny for easter though! OMG! I don’t even want to say eating …
LOL
Girl Scout cookies have gotten out of hand. One of our gaming group is a troop leader and she gave me a box of Tagalongs to make a cheesecake with. I used a recipe from a Girl Scout dessert contest cookbook form 1996. Back then, a box of cookies was 10 ounces. Today it’s 6.5!!! Not to mention that the girls only get 70 cents of the sales for each box.
Howdy Y’all! Home from Maundy Thursday services. A very nice and moving service.
I have always thought GS cookies were a rip off. Especially after I found out they’re not made with real GS anymore!
Former GS leader: each troop gets 0.70 a box to their own budget to use as they want. The money that goes to their regional council (like central CT) comes back in programming, camping, scholarships etc, so a lot of it comes right back to the girls.
Didn’t know that. Thanks.
I’m eating a naked Pop-Tart.
I like naked pop tarts. They’re so much better than the ones with the nasty crunchy “frosting” covering. I just wish I could find the apple pop tarts again. They were so good and were Sweetie’s favorite.
By the way, after 14 years I finally got Sweetie to buy me a Food Saver. It all came about because we went to a meat raffle to support my best friend’s son’s soccer team. We ended up winning 19 pounds of bacon. With that and a glowing recommendation from my best friend’s husband, Sweetie decided it was worth the $80+bags. I just bagged up 10 individual portions of tuna noodle casserole and as soon as I get some NOTs, I’ll make a batch of shepherd’s pie and do the same. Still have some servings of the creamy beef and mushroom noodley thingie. I’m totally loving it!!! It makes it so much easier when we have disagreements about what to have for dinner.
Good morning!! It’s possible I won’t be back on line till a week from tomorrow - we shall see… Try not to miss me too much!
**congo **- I got a Food Saver from a coworker a couple of years ago for a whopping $25, including some bags. I love it!!! But may I offer you a bit of advice - if you buy the rolls of “bags”, as soon as you open one, seal the end, then reroll till the sealed end is on the inside. Then as you use it, first seal the end, then cut off what you need, load it up, and seal the other end. I learned this the hard way.
I don’t buy GS cookies any longer. At the rate the quantities are going, pretty soon you’ll be paying $10 for a picture of a cookie. If I was inclined to support them, I’d just give a donation. But they’re not one of my preferred charities, and I’ve only got so much to donate, so sorry GS…
Waiting for daughter to pick me up so I can drop her off at school. Then I’ll run by Sheetz in Dahlgren for some cash for our trip before coming home to finish gathering together everything to be packed. **FCD **plans to be home by 10, which will give us an hour to pack the trunk and head back to Dahlgren to pick up our baby at 1130. I’m starting to stack things near the garage door so we don’t forget them. I’m also starting to feel rushed, and I hate that feeling.
Anyway, assuming I don’t get access to a fancy thinkin’ box (as **Spidey *so elegantly put it) in the next day or so, I wish you all a wonderful weekend celebrating whatever you choose to celebrate. Is that generic and unoffensive enough? Don’t overindulge on chocolates - at least not until you send me the requisite chocolate love offerings. I’m afraid you’ve all been slacking off in that department. * tsk tsk
Be good, be safe, and don’t forget to use your coasters. Feet off the coffee table!
I may or may not check back in before turning this machine off for the week - we shall see.
MWAH!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 57 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of only 73! Well, BRRRRRRRRRR!!! I may need to pull out my longjohns.
Shortdrum I don’t have a food saver but when I make stuff like stews, soups, and chilis I put 'em in containers, label 'em and freeze ‘em. It’s nice to be able to pull sump’n out of the freezer before goin’ to irk, set it in the fridge and nuike it for dindin!
It’s Good Friday. Today I irk from home. I’ll go to the noon Holy Week service downtown as I’ve done everyday this week and tonight we’ll go to Good Friday services at the church house. That’s my excitatin’ day. Oh and fish for dindin. Grilled tilapia.
Now I need more caffiene and should feed rumbly tummy. Then I shall purtify and get to irk.
ETA: Y’all have a safe trip MOOOOOOM!
I don’t think I’m supposed to wish y’all a happy Firday on Good Friday, but what the heck.
Happy Firday Y’all!
You nuke things in your fridge? How odd…
Blurf.
Daughter is at school. Cozmo is here. Fish food is ready for the week. I got cash. I think all that’s left is to empty the dishwasher and stage the luggage before **FCD **gets here. So I think it’s time to turn off the 'puter <sigh> and prepare to scoot. Laterz!!!
FCM in honor your absence next week I will do laundry.
I promise not to wear the same shirt two days in a row.
I always wondered that myself Swampy, why is it so GOOD?
Mom always used to point out that at 3 PM wherever you were, that it would be cloudy and dark. I was maybe twelve the first time I pointed out that it was really nice out, maybe Jesus didn’t die today.
Yes, I was being a smart-ass, go figure.
Have a safe trip MOOOOOM.
Moooooom - I’ve just been cutting off what I need, sealing one end, sealing (twice) in the middle to make 2 bags, cutting between the middle cuts, and then filling and vacuuming and sealing. It seems to be working pretty well. My best friend insisted that you can’t seal vertically (up the middle of the bag) but being an insomniac, I have seen MANY Vacuum sealer infomercials and knew that you can. Of course, she also buys pre-cut bags which I find to be atrociously wasteful.
The Terrible Iggy Dammit is using his powers of cuteness for evil - according to Sweetie. First he was snuggling up against Sweetie even though the girls obviously were doing the peepee dance. He wouldn’t let Sweetie get up, which forced me to get up and let the girls out (I get the nighttime feeding, Sweetie gets the morning feeding which means he gets up with them because I’m at their beck and call the rest of the day). Anyway, I let them out and made the coffee and then got back in bed. Of course I couldn’t fall back asleep. Sweetie was just trying to go get in the shower and was trying to get all 4-legged beasties out of the bedroom so The Terrible Iggy Dammit threw himself down on the bed and any time Sweetie told him to get up, he’d roll over in a cute manner and expose his belly for scritches. Of course Sweetie couldn’t resist the temptation of a cute and exposed Iggy belly so he was late getting in the shower.
So, today is the big day. After 2 months of irritating delays, the neurologist finally has all my records and I’m finally being allowed to see his holiness. Of course I’ve already been medicated for 2 months, thanks to the school doctor and the medication works pretty damn well (when I take it - I ran out just before leaving for an emergency trip to Up-Upstate NY and didn’t get more for 3 days. The effect hit way faster than it did last time I didn’t take it). Based on my symptoms, risk factors, MRI, eye exams, and effectiveness of the medication, we’re all pretty much sure of the diagnosis so I’m not sure what the neurologist will tell me but at least I’m finally getting this hassle over with.
Short drum, be sure you kiss his ring! (Seriously, best of luck)
Mooooom, have fun!
Tugig, just your laundry, or everyones? Cos I got a full laundry bag the size of Kansas with somebody’s name on it
A Lovely Passover to all who observe. I’m comin’ in on the cleaning home stretch! grin
I did say I read fast, right?
Well, since you can’t trust half of what you see these days, I volunteer to ------------- :smack:
Or watch “Martin” and “The Life of Brian” on two different screens at the same time.
OK – I’m not doing so well this week but ----------- doesn’t Elmer in this video have a heck of a rack?
If you can get it to Annapolis I’ll gladly run it through the washer for ya. Remember, I’m a guy doing laundry. No guarantees.
I have to spend the weekend cleaning out the house I had with my soon to be ex. Not looking forward to it.
Homemade soft tacos for lunch (N.O.L.). Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…
