It's time. Time to bare the legs. April means....shorts time !!

I don’t have many calendar-related rituals. But this one has emerged organically over the last 10 years or so. No matter what, I need to be wearing shorts through the end of October. Not every day, but by gum those shorts need to be worn well through the weeks heading into Halloween.

Similarly, April cannot pass without the shorts reappearing. This morning I got up and looked in my drawer and realized that today is the day. Now, my magical Star Trek™-like device informs me that it’s all of 43 outside. This will be a bracing walk to get the car to go to Home Depot.

And yet… a statement must be made. Shorts must be worn. Dammit, Spring must be sprung !! ( I realize that those in Oklahoma who are reading this are balefully glaring out at a wasteland of hailstones the size of cocker spaniels. I feel badly about that. I do. I hope you get to wear shorts soon, too. )

How do you mark the emergence of Springtime? How far do you push Summer into Autumn?

With these legs? Oh no, I’m not subjecting the world to the view of them if I can avoid it.

Boots were put away and espadrilles brought out several weeks ago, though.

I get to wear my hippie tie-dye dresses and my collection of sandals! Yay spring! I wear them until it is too cold even in the house, sometime in early November.
Also, weekend coffee and conversation with my hubby on the deck.

I mark the arrival of Spring by rolling down the windows in the car and playing my music loud - this week’s selections included Hysteria, Night Ranger’s Greatest Hits and Aldo Nova (and I’ve just dated myself terribly)

I live in the southern hemisphere and I just packed my shorts away :frowning:

Well this morning here in my one-horse Ontario town it was -4C, so no shorts for me yet.

I did wash and pack away the winter coat last weekend, and I finally get to wear the Converse shoes I got for Christmas rather than my winter boots.

It just feels like winter WILL. NOT. GO. AWAY. My S.A.D. is off the charts.
