After upgrading to iTunes 7.0.0.70, it usually only plays one tune. Once in a while it plays a couple, or a few, but then stops. I have to click “Next” to keep it going. (Play the whole list on shuffle.)
I’ve used iTunes for years now, and have never had any problems with it. I reinstalled 7.0.0.70, but it the symptoms are back.
I use a fully updated Windows XP Pro, I haven’t messed around with any settings – in fact, I can’t find a setting that says how many songs should be played.
I’ve googled and tried Apple’s site, but can’t find this particular behaviour.
Any hint much appreciated.
I haven’t noticed this on my version of iTunes (7.0.1.8), but I have noticed that if you play a single track the software doesn’t appear to unload the track when it finishes. The progress bar at the top of the screen remains up permanently indicating that there is 0 seconds remaining to play; version 6 used to go back to the Apple logo when the track finished. It appears that there are a few bugs in iTunes 7.
Yes, this might be related, 'cause when I play on shuffle, it stops right there and won’t continue, as if it can’t “unload the track when it finishes”, as you say. Bugger. Don’t force me back to Microsoft Media Player, Apple!
Per this week’s Ask iLounge, look to see if your songs are unchecked in your iTunes library.
I’ve been having the same problem, but not consistently. And mine reverts to the apple, not “0 seconds remaining.”
