iTunes question

This is minor, but it has me baffled.

My iTunes column headings somehow got messed up and I want to put it back how it was.

Previously, one of my headings was ‘Album’, which allowed me to sort the listings by the name of the album.

Now, though, the column heading is ‘Album by Artist/Year’, which I definitely do not want.

So, I go under View Options, select ‘Album’, but the heading does not change; it’s still ‘Album by Artist/Year’.

What am I missing (I’m hoping it’s something stupid/easy)?

Thanks!
mmm

Click on the Column heading itself (The one that says “Album by Artist/Year”). A pop-up menu will appear which will allow you to select “Album by Title”, which is what you want.

ETA - A right-click in that column does the same thing.

Thank you, **beowulf **!

while we are at it how do I delete a song from iTunes? It is in the recently added section and I’d like it gone. Thank you in advance.

Oh, I already tried highlighting it and clicking delete on the edit menu. no dice.

If its in a playlist like recently added ctrl+shift+delete

Or do the Edit -> Delete from the main Music library (not from a playlist).

and while we’re still at it…

You know how the playlist shows an exclamation point when a file is missing?

Previously, my list showed several random songs that were MIA. Now, though, it does not show any exclamation points unless I click on a specific song to play it and iTunes cannot locate the file.

I would like iTunes to tell me all of the songs that it cannot locate without me clicking on every one first.

If you select all “ctrl-a” then rate all the songs whatever, it will then show the exclamation points. That’s the only quick way i know.
