I've been PTT'd (Paper towel tubed)

Just recently got a new boss at work.

Along with my new boss comes this guy. The new boss more or less tells me: “Shakes, you’re being demoted. That job you’ve been doing perfectly fucking well; will be done by my guy now. And oh, before I demote you, would you mind training my guy how to do your job? Great! OK, thanks, have a great day.”

The higher ups tell me I will be moved to a different department to more compliment my skill sets. But still, this is bullshit! I spent the last two years at my job building up my contacts with my IT guys and engineers. Now I have to start all over again.

Fuck!

Paper towel tubed?

It’s like being Rick Rolled, but with extra fiber.

It’s where you have to stick your dick in a bunch of paper towel tubes at various heights, in order to prove that you can do your job.

Well, I don’t want to think too much about being PTT’d, but I’m very sorry you are being demoted. That really stinks.

The problem with bringing in a new Big Dog is that his first order of business is pissing on everything.

What getting demoted has to do with you proving that you couldn’t rape a young boy is beyond me, but I am sorry for you. I hope you teach this guy how to do your job REALLY poorly.

I’d be polishing my resume, if I were you. The guy will likely poison the boss against you and your days may be numbered there. Sorry, but reality sucks.

Oh come on now. I thought it was a clever reference. I just meant I’m being fucked in the you know what by my job.

Thanks, but I work for a big company with many departments. (Each autonomous from each other.) So they’ll just move me to another department separate from him.

Train the guy super well. That is your duty, of course, as the Free Market (blessings and peace be upon it!) requires, but, more than that, it will ensure that you are seen as a “team player”, a corporate Stakhanovite. Like the horse in Animal Farm! Then accolades and promotions are sure to rain down upon you!

Me? Tequila and bongwater, why do you ask?

(Kidding aside, sux2bu, and may the Goddess wither their peckers like worms on a griddle…)

Fuck training the new guy. Seriously. If you have paid leave stored up (or even unpaid leave available) take it all during the time you are meant to be training the newbie.

When you say ‘demoted’, is that your take or theirs? Is there less money?

Anyway, it’s hard to say how things work out. You may be training a guy to do a job that will be outsourced in a year.

Bad advice and a good way to get fired.

OK, I take it back. Burn the fuckers to the ground. How’s that?

I spit and laughed, I’ll admit it.

Tried Googling Paper Towel Tubed and PPT’d but nothing. Still not getting it.

Which means I’ll probably get demoted :frowning:

Just downvoted.

Hey, it’s not like they took his stapler.

Seriously,

Do a poor job of training the guy to do something that you could do really well. Even if you try to do a good job of training the guy he won’t be able to pick up on something that you have spent years trying to perfect.

When he can’t take over what you have given him and screws it all up he will look like shit and will eventually lose his job.

I was in a job where I developed a very sophisticated data base that was helpful to our business and our clients. When I left I turned it over to the next guy. While I was training him it became apparent that he wasn’t understanding it. Of course, he fucked everything up. All of the work that went into the development of the data base was lost. He’s gone, the clients are gone. The business suffered. The laughable part was that the guy I turned it over to was more highly paid than I was. I knew it. I didn’t torpedo him because I knew that it wouldn’t take long for him to torpedo himself. He did.

This. Accumulated PTO is best used for job interviews. Then they have to pay you for what’s left.
