I don’t quite get it, this is a free service that they (presumably) want people to use because they are making money off advertising but they require you to get an invitation to use it? And how does one get permitted to make invites?
Ever heard of Gmail?
If anyone still has an invitation I’d be delighted to beg one off of them, as well.
Yes, I’ve heard of it, but that’s about it. I still don’t understand the mechanics of it.
You sign up a limited number of people. Let’s say 100.
These 100 people use the service for a week, point out any bugs, and after that week, you give each of them some invitations, let’s say 3. Most of your 100 people will use their invitations, and most of the invitees will accept. Let’s say a total of 270 invitations are sent, and 250 people accept.
Now 350 people use your service for another week. Some of the new people find bugs that the old people didn’t find. You can also gauge server load and other technical issues. Then you pass out 3 more invitations to everyone. This should get you up near 1000 users. Repeat until you’re certain everything works and you have capable enough hardware to handle everyone.
Basically, it’s a way to do some informal beta-testing, generate word-of-mouth advertising for your product, and judge technical requirements.
Thanks, dude!
Thank YOU kind sir. I’m currently having technical difficulties getting the program to work on my Dell laptop but I’ll continue to troubleshoot until I get it resolved.
