I've had it with "Edge of Seventeen"

If I never hear that damn song again, I will still consider it a full life. “In the Air Tonight” can come off of heavy rotation as well.

Mundane? Sure. Pointless? You betcha. Just needed to put it out there.

Thanks for reading.

Why do you hate America?

I blame Trump.

I was approximately on the edge of seventeen when I decided to never willingly allow “Free Bird” to enter my earholes again. So that’s been…about thirty years ago, and in all that time, I’ve had to hear it only twice.

Now I have Sirius XM radio, and the Classic Rewind and Classic Vinyl channels are doing a lot to put artists on my personal no-hear list. They’ve recently destroyed The Who for me.

I can also go the rest of my life without hearing REO Speedwagon’s “I Can’t Fight This Feeling” or Wilson Phillips’ “Hold On”.

I have a Bob Seger rule: if I am in a vehicle and can reach the audio controls, no Bob Seger.

This is how I feel about “Don’t Want to Miss a Thing”, and “Come Together”.

It looks to me that you modified my Paul McCrapney/Doors rule.

A Horse With No Name is a perfectly good song.

Been here for over 14 years, and never heard of Cafe Society?

Flipped a coin. If you’d like to continue moderating, you can move it for me. Thanks.

Somebody please tell WXRT that “Adult Alternative” automatically precludes playing Steve Winwood. Please. I die a little inside every time I hear “When You See A Chance.”

“Flip This House” presentation seating is very limited, call now to reserve 2 free tickets!

So says the commercial running 3x an hour for the last two weeks.

Ca. 1990, I dated a man who owned a used record store, and the artists whose albums they couldn’t give away were

Twisted Sister, Huey Lewis & The News, Asia (RIP John Wetton)

and Bob Seger.

He was a bit puzzled about that last one too.

This might be mundane and pointless but it belongs in Cafe Society.

Hmm. I like all three of those.

I’d have picked “Higher Love” as the most execrable Steve Winwood song that I swear to Christ I keep hearing almost daily over grocery store loudspeakers 30+ years after it first slid out of the lower bowel of FM radio and splattered pop culture with its anodyne 80s insipidity. I don’t know if Patrick Bateman ever used it as mood music for a chainsaw disemboweling, but he damn well should have.

bah, I like all those songs if I’m in the right mood. I am listening to Pablo Cruise as we speak. :stuck_out_tongue:

Although these are (mostly all) good songs, I’ve just heard them too damn much over a lifetime, and always switch channels if I can:

“Satisfaction” by the Rolling Stones
“Something” and “Back in the USSR” by the Beatles
“Staying Alive” by the Bee Gees
“Hotel California” by the Eagles
“Old Time Rock and Roll” by Bob Seger
“Sweet Home Alabama” by Lynyrd Skynyrd
"Layla” by Derek and the Dominoes
“Fly Like An Eagle” by Steve Miller Band
“I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll” by Joan Jet & The Blackhearts

I’ll take this over “Higher Love” any day of the week.

ETA: I then read the rest of the thread and found out I’m not the only one.
