It’s really good, fairly intense and does a great job setting up the new season starting in January. It plays more like a decent two-part episode than a genuine 24 ‘movie,’ but that wasn’t really a problem for me. I really don’t want to say much more, except to maybe add that, because it follows three different plots at the same time, ‘Redemption’ isn’t really as Jack-oriented as I would have thought. Robert Carlyle of ‘Trainspotting’ fame is really good as Jack’s buddy. I guess I can’t really prove that I’ve seen it without giving stuff away. Oh well. Fans of 24 at least have an exciting couple of hours to look forward to tomorrow!
Here’s one thing I noticed: for the first time in a long time (as far as I can remember) Keifer says “Events occur in real time” again during the opening!
Thanks for the spoiler-free shout-out, Stephe96!
How did you mangage to see it?
I watched an advanced review copy. I’ll also say this: the preview for the upcoming season contains one hell of a shocking development. You’ll all know it when you see it; I’m still trying to decide if I’m liking it or not…
Damn, Jack.
Is it…Tony?
Yep.
24… returning
excitement… building…
I have much hope that after everybody involved recognized that last season was a giant shit sandwich that this season will make a good return to form. They’ve always been good at the two hour season premieres, so I suspect this special “movie” will be really good.
I’m also somewhat heartened by the departure from CTU as a way to change things up a bit.
The shock that Stephe references was in their open previews from last year when they started showing sneak peaks at the season that never happened (This upcoming season that is) So I don’t think it needs to be spoilered necessarily- since the producers clearly don’t mind that we know about it. That being said- I’m skeptical- and I hope that they have a REALLY damn good explenation for whats going on there. Because, to me- whether I give up on the series (last season was just that bad) may depend on it.
Yeah, but I had no clue since I hadn’t seen any previews before, so I figured I’d preserve the surprise for everyone else.
You’re right about the lack of CTU (in Redemption, at least). In fact, and I don’t think this really spoils anything, in addition to Jack there is only one, maybe two, previous characters from the series. Obviously, that will change once the season starts, however.
