Jack In The Box, or McDonald's?

Jack in the Box. There are tons of McDonalds in Chicago and no Jack in the Boxes. I miss some of the good stuff they have there the last time I was in Texas.

Jack in the Box by an extremely wide margin.

Now I haven’t eaten in one since 1967 or so, but my boyfriend lived by a Jack-in-the-Box and we ate there a lot. So my memory may be clouded bu a sixteen-year old’s emotions!

No Jack in the Box nearby that I’ve ever seen. So McDonalds by default. Better than Burger King anyway.

JitB is just to greasy for me to eat more then a couple times a year. But their tacos are great after a long night of drinking.

I eat more McDonald’s than Jack in the Box, and eating a huge number of McDonald’s fries was a sacrament in my college days, but the Ultimate Cheeseburger at Jack’s is better than anything McDonald’s has. So I voted Jack in the Box.

McDonald’s because I don’t have to drive an hour or more to get food from one.

I don’t go out to eat much anymore but I used to greatly prefer Jack in the Box. However, this last trip out, I discovered they no longer do toys in kids meals yet still charge the same price :expressionless: Annoyed the hell out of me cause the kid looks forward to the toy so McDonald’s it is. Always liked their fries better anyway.

JitB because they actually have some half-way edible food. It’s not a national chain, though, so lots of people will have to vote McD’s by default.

McDonald’s. Jack in the Box is one of the few fast food chains I won’t go to because I hate their food. Their burgers taste weird and their fries are unremarkable.

McD’s isn’t as good as it used to be (I used to love the greasy Quarter Pounders with Cheese back in the days when they used to come in styrofoam clamshells and they wrote your special order ticket on a little slip of paper) but it’s still not horrible. Jack is horrible.

ETA: JitB definitely has better commercials, though. “Are you making your sandwiches talk again, sir?”

Jack in the Box always makes me regret eating there, but I still go back on occasion and their breakfast foods are pretty good. McDonald’s managed to make me regret eating there too many times, and I haven’t gone in years despite my current diet consisting of way more fast food than it should. So Jack for me.

McDonalds wins by default, since there are no Jack in the Boxes (Jacks in the Box?) in this area.

Maccas. I’ve never heard of Jack in the Box.

It’s back, though it looks like another one of their “limited time” things. Tasty!

I answered Jack in the Box, because I’ve become a very regular customer of the store that opened just a couple blocks from my house maybe three years ago. I really do like their food, and this particular store is very well-run (speaking from my perspective of 28 years in the restaurant business), with great service and friendly employees. They often bring my food out to me instead of yelling my number, too. Yesterday while I was there, a very elderly couple came in, and once they’d placed their order the young guy who took their order came out from behind the counter, helped them to a table, helped them get their drinks/napkins/condiments, and then delivered their food to them when it was ready.

Maybe two years ago I swore I’d never patronize the local McD’s again. I stopped by Jack’s later than usual one night and found it was closed (I usually hit the place in the afternoon, so had never looked to see what the closing time was). So I headed down to McD’s, where I waited more than 20 minutes for a Quarter Pounder with Cheese. While I waited, I watched friends of the employees repeatedly running up to the counter to chat, and the employees actually stopping what they were doing to talk with them instead of saying, “Hey, I’m busy here”. And of course, there’s McD’s policy of prioritizing the drive-thru at the expense of the walk-in customers, which meant most of the crew was busy filling drive-thru orders while the rest of us waited. I should have cancelled my order and asked for my money back and left, but I was craving a cheeseburger and nobody else was open.

I have never been to a Jack In The Box. Based on the last McD’s I had, I am thinking they can’t be worse…

Micky D’s. I’ve only eaten at a Jack In The Box maybe three times in my life, and I don’t remember whether it was any good or not, but that’s not the reason for my vote anyway.

What I like about McDonald’s is the fact that pretty damned near anywhere in the world I happen to be, I can always get a shitty hamburger for about a buck US. I’m not even really sure why, but for whatever reason, that knowledge makes me happy.

I prefer Jack In The Box. And I’ve never even been to Jack In The Box.

McDonald’s is better. A restaurant that puts mayo on its burgers can’t be trusted.

This. There’s no such thing as Jack in the Box for a good 400 miles.

McDonald’s by a country mile, and I don’t even need a gun to my head to make this choice.
