Jack In The Box, or McDonald's?

Jack in the Box is the best of the major chains*. JitB really has the best variety. Carl’s Jr. is good too but I never know what to get there. McDonalds makes me queasy just thinking about it but I realize that’s a personal, psychological thing. I can only eat the chicken. Maybe the fish is okay (but it’s a weird looking animal which might put some people off).

*Major = Jack, McD, Burger King, Carl’s Jr. (I hear Hardee’s worse), Wendy’s, and maybe Taco Bell.

McDonalds hamburgers are the worst
They are worse than Burger King
A Big Mac has 26 grams of fat
A Quarter-Pounder has 28 grams of fat

Also, Jack has better commercials and also clowns are frightening.

Never been to Jack in the Box; the closest location is 306.04 miles away in Statesville, NC, according to their store locator.

So, McDonalds, by default.

I haven’t eaten at a Jack in the Box, or even seen one, since about 1969 when I used to go to one on Golf Road. My boyfriend liked it, and so we ate there a lot. I remember it as tastier than McDonalds.

I didn’t eat at McDonalds much most of my 20s so when I started going back to McD’s with some regularity a few years ago I attributed the shrink to me having gotten bigger, but it is definitely smaller than it was a decade or so ago. The bread/fish proportions are still the same, but the whole thing has shrunk at least 15-20%. I remember it being the same diameter as the quarter pounder but side-by-side with a quarter pounder it’s noticeably smaller.

I didn’t vote because I never had JitB, not because I wouldn’t like to try but there are non around here. Seems unfair to vote under those circumstances.

JTB has excellent “drunk food”.

I like to order the potato wedges with with double topping. (Cheese and bacon)

Burgerville USA beats the pants off all of them, but their extent is pretty small, the nearest one to me is 70 miles. I kind of wish they would expand a bit, but it might hurt their quality.

Once upon a time, I would have chosen JitB, but a coupleo of years ago, my local franchises took all salads off the menu. Since I rarely eat fries, that pretty much removed them from my rotation for anything but an occasional breakfast.

It’s been ages since I’ve had JIB. I just remember never wanting to go to one again. McD’s I’m fine with and still have about once every six weeks. The one I realllllly hate is BK.

Never ate at a JIB and we don’t have any in VA that I know of. I don’t ever remember considering eating at one out of state either, they seem pretty rare.

Love the Wesley Willis reference!

Anyway, no contest here. JITB has the Ultimate Cheeseburger and McDonalds doesn’t. Meat, cheese, mayo, bun, period. Nothing else to get in the way of the tasty goodness that you know in reality is total badness. Maybe I’m overthinking it, but its just that kind of dichotomy that fuels most of my preferences. I want the Madonna and the whore.

Horror: Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr are the same chain. Name varies by location.

Breakfast In The Box beats whatever Mac has, guaranteed. My favorite is the Grilled Breakfast Sandwich.

I have never eaten at one either. Although I drive by one every day (about 2.5 miles from my house, half way to work). They spend a ton on advertising, so I guess it’s not working. This thread has inspired me to give it a try one of these days.

Apart from TV commercials, I don’t think I’ve SEEN a Jack in the Box.

ETA: Ha. Their search tool tells me “The closest location is 503.41 miles away in Statesville, NC.”

Jack. You can get anything on the menu any time of day. At MickeyD’s, it’s just breakfast until 10 or 11a.
And I hate their breakfast stuff.

Tacos for breakfast-NOM

You know who else has limited breakfast hours?

Had to vote McDonald’s since I’ve only eaten Jack In The Box once.

We don’t have any Jack in the Boxes around here, so I have to vote for McDonalds. But really, Burger King or Wendy’s both have better food overall.

Our McDonalds took my favorite, the grilled chicken Caesar salad, off the menu. It’s what I ate 95% of the time. When I eat their burgers, they taste okay, but I get a stomach ache within half an hour.
