You and I have made that point ad infinitum. At some point, you have to acknowledge that some people are simply incapable of comprehending the idea of degree. Maybe they’re the sorts that can only manage to grok black-and-white thinking. It’s either that or they’re being disingenuous. In either case, continuing to attempt to pound the point into their thick skulls will only end up frustrating and annoying you. But YMMV 
All I can say is that I don’t think much of people who can’t (or, more likely, won’t) grasp simple concepts like these.

What you’re calling differences of degree, I’m calling semantics. One person says “toilet whore,” but you say, “Oh, you must be on your period!” or “You’re too stupid to read.” I could do a cut and paste montage of all your nasty little jabs, but I think you know what behavior I’m talking about. I don’t see how one is really qualitatively meaner than the other. One uses cruder language, but the intent is exactly the same-- to hurt the feelings of your opponent, to belittle that person. Can you deny that?

Oh, and allow me to anticipate your next argument, which is that MizGrand was dragged into the Pit, while I and the other people you’ve insulted were fighting with you and therefore deserve your meanness, which is Starving Artist’s defense.
First, everyone is provoked to anger and hostility by different things. Some people find the kind of things MizGrand said very, very provocative, offensive, and worthy of their vocal outrage. If you do not agree, that’s fine, but people obviously took it every bit as personally as you take the things that incense you. It seems to be hairsplitting to say that what evokes nastiness from you warrants that nastiness, but what evokes it for others makes them stupid, bad people.
Second point: when you take the moral high ground and call other people jackals for being nasty, it is not unreasonable for people to expect you not to behave in that manner yourself. It’s called practicing what you preach. When you make exceptions for yourself with tenuous basis, expect to get called on it with great fervency.
I didn’t have any problem whatsoever with the name calling - it could be construed as well-deserved.

Check my history, go ahead. I didn’t even have a single post involved in the initial threads related to the** MizGrand **hoopla. I didn’t need to say anything because everyone else already had and the psycho bitch in question just didn’t fucking recognize anything outside her little box of being “happy”. So when everything got locked and closed, I felt all the better for it; good riddance to stinking terrible trash, now hopefully I don’t have to think about her anymore and she can fade back into SDMB anonymity.
My first post even RELATED to this was in this thread way back in the first page with post #49 , asking why Auto is even bringing this up again (albiet in the semi-defense of MizGrand). Then things began to settle down again.
The first time I even posted anything negative about MizGrand was in a newly locked thread because someone couldn’t stop bringing up the incident, someone couldn’t let it go, someone can’t stop fucking getting enough attention!
I explained in that thread why I posted why I posted in a thread that had fell off the BBQ Pit front page, even while this thread was near the top: I wanted to post my anger in a thread related to MizGrand. This thread had ceased to even relate to those old threads, rather other Pit issues and a few other posters not even related to MizGrand.
So now that Giraffe closed the last thread related to her pretentious self she has now decided to come to this one to once again make sure that we’re all talking about her again.
