James Otto Sweet Heart and Damning Suicides to Hell

The evidence does not appear to support that assertion. To the unbiased observer it probably looks more like you talk AT them.

What nice thing to read! It would be cool if I could have said “What a nice thing to know!” Here’s an opportunity to back that up. I asked you this question quite some time ago. I’m still curious to know the answer to it.

Again, thanking you in advance.

Ok, this is insane, there are thousands of posts on hundreds of message boards by this person over the last few months.

I have to believe that some where in Nashville some coke crazed publicist has imprisoned dozens of small east Asian women and taught them the most rudimentary concepts of English and the internet. Addicted them to meth amphetamine and let them loose on the internet to infuse the world consciousness with the “Idea” of one “James Otto”.

JoSH, get help.

I had not been aware of this poster. Ugh.

I am a Christian of the very left of centre radical variety, and I despise smarmy so called Christians like this. They make us “Jesus was an olive skinned radical socialist and most of the Bible should be taken as mythology” types look bad. I generally have more in common with atheists than these types.

Don’t feed… etc etc…

Well, he [del]might[/del] probably does not; however, those poor buggers whose fanboards she’s polluted [del]may[/del] no doubt have seen the need to get some.

I wouldn’t put it past them, either. I’ve had the misfortune to be in a room with one such extremist telling a friend that said friend should not read a book on management because the book’s author is Mormon. Seriously, why is that most of the people who are religious manage to have their faith enhance their thoughts and acts, but the extremist Fundamentalists can only pollute?

Remember that one man’s heresy/blasphemy is another’s orthodoxy. Would you bet that Holly’s going to make some inane comment about that now?

For those who cannot get Hulu, I’m guessing that link is to this video. It’s one of my favorite skits from that show!

I’ve no doubt that Holly believes exactly that because her “pastor told [her] so.”

By ship, you mean rocketship and by sail you mean launched at nearly light-speed, don’t you?

This is the second time someone’s said “Right on!” to me today. That’s kind of an interesting coincidence if you note that I’m not around too many English-speakers.

Actually, that stunt of hers seems to me to have gone way beyond annoying and just very well may be in the realm of using the Lord’s name in vain.

So Holly, if I told you I was offended by you blessing me and pushing your religion on me would you still do it? Isn’t that rude? What about Southern manners?

Who did you vote for in the last election? I know it was tough, the Mormon or the, well you know.

He’s not a Muslim!

Allah hu akbar always!!!

Once was plenty, zero would have been even better.

May Cthulhu devour you first!

She’s addicted to “someone is WRONG on the internet!” Most people realize that just because they can do something doesn’t mean they should (that’s even something Paul wrote 1 Corinthians 6:12). Can’t let mercy or compassion get in the way of revealing cold, hard reality. Guess she doesn’t want biblical teaching to get in the way of her uniqueness.

If this is typical of east Tennessee, I need to never, ever go there.

A Christian friend of mine has this on a shirt. It’s gotten him a surprising amount of fist-bumps.

It was someone that I didn’t even know in the first place because those that I do know still look after me over there.

No its nothing like that. Also I see a lot of things online that get forced down the throats that may not want to see it, but I don’t ask them people to stop because I don’t have the right to take away their freedom of speech so if what they say is allowed, so is what I have to say too.

That is not why I say it.

I do my part when something that I can say about the Lord fits into a chat that I find and whatever people think about what it is that I have to say is all up to them.

Thanks, but I don’t need any.

I don’t take the name of the Lord in vain.

If I told you that swearing offended me, would you still do it?

If it hadn’t have been for other people here saying certain things to me, I never would have had a reason to share such a thing about myself.

God bless you people always!!!

Holly

Have you heard the story of the little boy who cried “wolf”? He did so in vain.

vain adjective \ˈvān
1: having no real value : idle, worthless <vain pretensions>
2: marked by futility or ineffectualness : unsuccessful, useless <vain efforts to escape>
3archaic : foolish, silly
4: having or showing undue or excessive pride in one’s appearance or achievements : conceited
— vain·ly adverb
— vain·ness \ˈvān-nəs\ noun
— in vain
1: to no end : without success or result <her efforts were in vain>
2: in an irreverent or blasphemous manner <you shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain — Deuteronomy 5:11 (Revised Standard Version)>

Ringing a doorbell is not offensive or done in vain. Ringing a doorbell 200 times in a row is. Stop ringing that doorbell.

^^^ I don’t take the name of the Lord in vain no matter how many times people say that I do.

God bless you always!!!

Holly

My birthday was yesterday. A friend made me a cake with this on it! Synchronicity.

666.:):)

A-a-a-a-nd, I still don’t know the answer.

I do know my current course of action, however. It’s off to Two-Buck Chuck Land for you, Holly. I hope you find whatever it is you’re seeking by being here.

Sorry, guys; I harbored a crazy hope that she was capable of taking an honest look at herself and concluding on her own that this board is not a good fit for her.

John Piper:

"So it [taking the Lord’s name in vain] doesn’t just refer to a certain tone of voice or a certain use of the word. It’s dealing with God and speaking of God in a way that empties him of his significance.

This includes both throw-away words—like “God!” or “Jesus!”—as well as speaking about him in trifling and flippant ways. Not just swear ways but cheap ways, low and insignificant ways that just treat him like a commodity."

To be perfectly honest, I can’t imagine commoditizing the name of God more effectively than reducing His blessing to a forum signature, something handed out by rote to everyone.

^^^ Saying God bless you is not taking the name of the Lord in vain. Now saying “Oh my —!” is which is something that I never say. Can the rest of y’all here say that you don’t say that either? No.

If you are not going to do the same thing, why think that there is a chance that someone else would?

God bless you two always!!!

Holly

Time to hit the Ignore button. I’m tired of being troll-fodder.

John Piper is no James Joyce, that you should miss the point of that quote so completely.

I’ve learned something very valuable from this thread… if I’m ever indicted on, say, something like being a serial killer, all I’ll have to do to justify my deplorable actions is point out the following:

“So-and-so over there is still a serial killer. If they won’t stop, then why should I?”

Mwahahahahaha!

I’m sure the judge will grant me the utmost leniency when I’m strapped to the electric chair. My Og, five year olds have more intelligence and better logic than that.

I can’t stop laughing.

I don’t know either one of them guys.

Yeah well I am tired of being harassed, but if people are going to harass me, it ain’t in my blood to just let people get away with it. I will give it right back to them because people harassing me is not the reason why the Lord died for us.

God bless you two always!!!

Holly

Yeah, kaylasdad99! You’ve posted almost 18,000 times over close to 14 years at this board. Don’t you think it’s time you figure out if we’re a good fit for you or not by now?
