James Otto Sweet Heart and Damning Suicides to Hell

So basically what you’re saying is, it’s the Polar Express of threads, except we’re not going to see Santa?

22 pages and still no idea who the hell James Otto is!

Hurr freaking durr yah we all need a computer geek and Internet guru to GOOGLE HER NAME.

Again, I ask. Are you this stupid or just being an uber passive aggressive biznatch? I am really struggling on this one.

Hey, here’s something I just noticed. For all her faults/ignorance/attitude, there’s one very positive thing about Holly: she, at least, knows how to spell y’all!

This is internet crack. And Holly, I’m not calling you a crack. I would never do that. ;);) I mean like crack the drug. I hear that once you get a taste, it’s hard (pardon me, Holly, I didn’t mean hard like “Boner” hard.) to ignore.

^^^ No hard feelings…no pun intended there…I know how other people think.

If you think that I have lots of company, thank you for letting me know that I am not the only person who I believe is on the right track.

The Lord gave his life so that we could have one of our own. If that is considered suicide, what do you call the act of taking your own life as a favor to yourself? I don’t know about you, but I call that flat out selfish in the worst way because you are putting what you think that you need first before the needs and feelings of those that you are going to leave behind.

I didn’t start this chat, but since the person who did decided to have it be about me, in my opinion my asking about anything that is on my mind is a rather fitting thing.

James is my most favorite singer and as of right now, his most well known song named “I Just Got Started Loving You” not only went to #1 for 2 weeks and scored him his first ever Grammy award nomination in early 2009, but it was also named the #1 country song of 2008. Sadly the Grammy award did not go to him, but later that year James was given the CMA and ACM Song of the Year award for his being a writer of the song named “In Color” done by fellow country singer Jamey Johnson.

Well y’all is a big phrase where I am.
God bless you six always!!!
Holly

As I said, being proud of your ignorance is a requirement of being a fundamentalist Christian. Part of that obviously is believing that you’re on the ‘right track’ regardless of what logic, reason, or any of the other faculties that make us uniquely human would lead you to believe.

There’s a reason that fundamentalist preachers like to emphasize the shepherd and sheep analogy you know. :stuck_out_tongue:

^^^ Oh well. You have what you believe and I have what I believe, but the person who will have the final word is the Lord.
God bless you always!!!
Holly

Yup. That’s the way to handle things sweetie. Ignore everything you don’t agree with or can’t understand, which is pretty much everything.

Are you still having trouble understanding why you don’t fit in here? :dubious:

Um, I’m going to take a wild stab and say she’ll just ignore this question.

Actually, I finally realized why she picked this forum - the motto “fighting ignorance.” I think she took as a personal challenge.

^^^ Well fighting against the ignorant is what I believe that I have been doing with y’all who decided to pick a fight with me. Is that close enough to what you are saying here?

Your stab wasn’t wild enough. Sorry. :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

No and that is because it doesn’t really matter to me if I do fit in or not. I just respond to what interests me enough.
God bless you two always!!!
Holly
P.S. Oh and you may not ignore what you disagree with, but you have made it as clear as glass to me that you most definitely do not understand it, so maybe I do fit in here after all since that is how y’all love to look at me.

Really, what I figured was that since we were fighting ignorance we are the agents of Satan or some such nonsense. But if you think you’re here to enlighten us, how do imagine simply spouting fundamentalist dogma is going to do that?

You see, the only type of person who would believe that is someone who would be susceptible of being influenced in that way themselves. IOW, someone very, very, very simpleminded. So you wonder why we consider YOU simple minded? There’s your first clue.

^^^ All that I ever intend to do is share where it is that I stand on things. How I am looked at by everyone else in return is just that: your decision and for the record I don’t wonder why some people may label me a simple minded person. If that is how they want to look at me, that is their business, not mine. I do have a question for you though. Is a complicated life the kind of life that you want to live or wish on other people? If no, why such hard feelings for simple mindedness? Or are you just jealous that you may not be able to be one of them kinds of people?
God bless you always!!!
Holly
P.S. There is a country song from several years that goes “I want to live the simple life.”

Quoted from that link:

2.Low Cyber Self-Esteem (a.k.a. The Guy Who Everyone Hates but Who Never Leaves)
There’s a place for everyone on the Internet to feel at home. When you can fill a message board with fans of The Wonder Years porn, there should be no such thing as an outcast.

Yet, each forum, chat room or other online community seems to have a person or people who just don’t fit in. It’s not that they are necessarily horrible people, they’re just the square trying to fit into the triangle hole. They get ridiculed constantly.

Now you may figure this is no different than the picked-on nerd in high school, but unlike that kid always getting squished into a locker, these people are free to leave the website at any time.

But they never do.

In Real Life it’s Called…

Self-Abasement and/or Attention Seeking Behavior.

Someone with the need for self-abasement feels that they should be perpetually punished for their wrongdoings. They’re like the albino that whipped himself in The Da Vinci Code, only instead of drawing blood they draw “Fuck you noobtard” comments. It’s either a subconscious way to feel like they’re paying back the world for their sins, or they’re just so out of self-esteem that they can’t muster the energy to defend themselves.

If taken to an extreme, it can even turn into Online Erotic Humiliation where the abuse turns into sexual arousal. So the next time you tell someone to go fuck themselves, you might have just given them the material to do so.

But maybe more common than that is good ol’ Attention Seeking Behavior, which every single person who’s ever spent just one evening with a child will be familiar with. The outcast, like the child, knows that hate is not the opposite of love, apathy is. All that negative attention is still attention, and the abuse is still several steps better than being ignored.

So Why Does it Happen on the Internet?

So we’ve established that when you say, in person, “Jimmy, go away, you’re a retard” that Jimmy is just happy that somebody used his name and acknowledged his existence. Even if the only reason you used his name was to tell him to go die in a fire.
“Who’s a super fag? Jimmy’s a super fag, that’s right. Go Jimmy!”

But when you type it on a message board, it’s that much better. This isn’t just attention, but attention that’s being broadcast around the globe via the World Wide Web. The “we hate Jimmy” thread on a popular forum might be read by thousands of people. If that many people are reading about him, he must matter (hell, think of all the TV personalities who have made a career out of being hated).

The attention-seeker gets what he wants, and the self-abaser gets an erection big enough to actually interfere with the signal on his wireless keyboard.

Look sweetie, you need to make up your mind. Are you here to save us or not? You said you’ve been trying to fight ignorance all along, now you claim to be a conscientious objector who is just sharing her beliefs. It’s got to be one or the other. And if you’re not trying to save us, then all I have to say is . . . bad xtian, bad, bad!!!

As far as a simple life goes, mine is probably as simple and uncomplicated as it can possibly get while still having a pulse but if I ever became as willfully ignorant as you are, I would almost certainly slit my own wrists just out of shame.

That was brilliant Ambi, thanks for the info

I don’t remember ever once saying that I am here to save anyone, because I actually don’t expect anyone to go by what it is that I stand for…but if anything that I say does make any sense to anyone, I give the credit that is due to the Lord for giving me the opportunity to say what apparently needs to be said.
God bless you always!!!
Holly
P.S. What you do with your wrists is all up to you and no one else.

It doesn’t. We’ve been telling you this since you’ve been here.

Well I have to say that’s disappointing, not to mention lazy - expecting god to do all of the work here, especially considering how much work there is to be done. But at least you admit you’re not up to the task. I guess that’s something.
