Jan 6 Hearings Follow-Along & Commentary Thread (Starts Jun 9, 2022)

Well, these details are crucial. For instance, if it had been Dijon mustard that would have been a major scandal.

I mean, how hard is it to say “yes” to that so you don’t look like a complete shithead/weasel? Even if you’re lying, the worst follow up question is “were you attempting to prevent it anyway?” and then you plead the 5th.

meadows was in the deflect and blame camp, then moved to neutral.

hutchinson said there were 3 camps. camp stop this, camp neutral, and camp deflect and blame.

the testimony today had meadows smack in the middle of this.

If it came out later than Flynn actively opposed the peaceful transfer of power then if he answered yes he could conceivably be prosecuted for lying to Congress. Better to be safe and just answear the 5th to everything.

Trump, basically a one-man response team for himself, is going after Hutchinson on his social media site, Truth Social. He’s using a familiar tack, that he hardly knows “who this person, Cassidy Hutchinson, is.”"

“General Flynn, you are charged with 1 count of treason. And oh yeah, 1 count of perjury.”

But he probably tried to grope her at least once.

Thanks for that. I’ve been wondering how he’s being reacting to today’s proceedings.

As usual.

“Hutchinson ? Never heard of her. Maybe I took a picture with her once. I take a LOT of pictures with a LOT of people. Maybe she brought me coffee once.”

The crowd loves it when you play your greatest hits.

But that doesn’t mean he knew who she was.

I hope she has a heavy-duty, 24/7 security detail. Her life is in danger.

Giuliani and Meadows both sought pardons for their January 6 activities.

And assaulting a Secret Service agent really end up being the thing that brings Trump down like how tax evasion brought down Capone?

They’ll need to call drywall installers to Merde-a-Lardo, not just a cleaning crew.

Now discussing pardon requests: Giuliani, Meadows did.

Trump wanted to include language about pardoning the January 6th riot participants in the speech he gave on January 7th.

Mark Meadows also wanted to include that language.

Pat Cipollone put the kibosh on it.

But he heard bad things about her.

“This is the smoking gun,” Solomon Wisenberg, a former deputy independent counsel in Ken Starr’s investigation that led to Bill Clinton’s impeachment, tells me. He says there’s no question that today’s hearing establishes a case for Trump’s criminal culpability on “seditious conspiracy charges.”"

And not insignificant in their possible PR utility. I hope the phrase “ketchup-throwing tantrum” becomes indelibly associated with Trump to the point where even his supporters can’t totally avoid hearing it.

Apparently there’s significant witness tampering going on–holy shit.
