Jan 6 Hearings Follow-Along & Commentary Thread (Starts Jun 9, 2022)

True, but I think that reasoning was that the McDonald person was “safe.” Another con in the kitchen?

If the Republicans were running this thing, the next hearing would be in two weeks.

Joe Rogan gets it right for once:

This solution is acceptable.

Rogan is probably bitter at Trump for promoting the vaccine.

I agree with Ann_Hedonia . He will be a god. Who has a better story when they’re sitting around bragging. ?

I was insulted by a “person of color” at the white house correspondence dinner and said “fuck it, I’m running for President”

Wow. That’s a shocker.

Joe Rogan uses words like “existential.”

I concede that Trump may be popular with White prisoners.

I haven’t seen anyone post an actual link yet, so here is one:

Next hearing: Tuesday July 12 at 10:00 ET.

The play book has been written. But if it doesn’t get you a win, and instead prison, few coaches would follow it.

They will try to improve the play book of course. That’s already being done.

I don’t care if it pisses off millions of people. THEY ARE WRONG. They would riot, they would yell and scream, but we cannot look the other way because it’s going to make some idiots angry.

We have to take back control of the asylum.

And honestly, a good solid riot might actually be helpful. Get enough of these people arrested and imprisoned themselves, and maybe things might get better. They’d typically lose the right to vote, and maybe even the right to own guns. That could only be a good thing at this point.

Looks like the J6C just made a testimony deal with Pat Cipollone.

That should be interesting.

NY Times link on Cipollone.

Pat A. Cipollone, the White House counsel to President Donald J. Trump who repeatedly fought Mr. Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election, has reached a deal to be interviewed by Friday before the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack, according to people familiar with the inquiry.

Mr. Cipollone will sit for a videotaped, transcribed interview, according to a person familiar with the discussions. He is not expected to testify publicly.

NASA to reveal much-anticipated first science observations from the James Webb Space Telescope: Tuesday July 12 at 10:30 ET

It’s going to be quite a morning – J6C vs JWST – and one in which we will all reveal to ourselves whether our true first love is politics or science!

These idjits would probably try to break into whatever prison Trump is in.

Let them, problem solved.

Old Patsy Baloney tried to hold out, but it appears the fire is getting too hot even for those with legitimate claims to Exec Privilege.

He doesn’t really have a legitimate claim to executive privilege.

There is no good faith basis for him to refuse to answer the committee’s questions on any assertion of a legal privilege.

The most straightforward evidence for this conclusion is that many other Trump administration lawyers have already appeared before the committee and testified to their discussions with Trump… Cipollone (as well as his deputy Pat Philbin) met with the Committee, reportedly back in April, to speak informally about the issues under investigation. Under these circumstances, it would be exceedingly unconvincing for Cipollone to maintain that he is now precluded from offering full testimony.

The linked article goes into a lot of details on why such a claim would likely fail.

I hate seeing Pat Cipollone becoming prominent in the news because seeing his name tends to make me hungry, as in “I just had a lovely cipollone sandwich on a ciabatta bun with mustard and pickle”. Cipollone sounds like something you’d order from an Italian deli, thinly sliced, but not too much, because it’s expensive.

Funny, every time I read the name I think of Iona Staller, better known as Cicciolina.
