Jane Fonda has been clapped in irons again!

(I didn’t see a thread on this.)

Jane Fonda was arrested Friday near the U.S. Capitol for protesting inaction on climate change. Jane Fonda arrested at climate change protest - YouTube

Her eighty-second birthday is coming up in two months. 82 years old and she’s still protesting. I’m not even 70 and couldn’t do it. Arrested or not, she plans on protesting in the same spot every Friday.

Kudos to an American heroine.

I read that yesterday and just thought to myself. Good for her.

You may get some push-back on this.

I had thought she had gone over to the evangelical dark side, so I was surprised at this. I know some evangelicals do give a shit about the planet, but they seem to be rare.

Huh, somehow, I thought she had died already.

Good for her for standing up for what she cares about, and on the flip side of that big whoop.

She has a fairly successful show on Netflix with Lily Tomlin. Grace & Frankie.

This is a good cause to get arrested for. But I haven’t forgiven Hanoi Jane.

Well, first, ya gotta have netflix…then…

Honestly, I’m so out of date, I don’t even know if I’m back style again.

I’m not sure why I thought she had died, i just know that I did. Probably got her conflated with someone else, maybe her dad?

Peter Fonda, her brother, just died this summer at the age of 79. He was still working and his last film is yet to come out.

I’ve forgiven her but I haven’t forgotten. That one I disagree with strongly. But I don’t hold that incident against her all that much at this time either.

I don’t hold Hanoi against her. That was a long time ago and things change. She looks better at 82 than lots of people half her age. That isn’t what octogenarians used to look like.

Aid and comfort to the enemy is forgiven because she’s good looking? Good to know.

And total misinterpretation of my post is also forgiven.

Well in fairness line spacing would have improved the interpretation of your post.

I got what you meant but your post could easily read as Just Asking Questions read it.

The impression I have of Jane Fonda is that she’s not as intelligent as she likes to believe. So she doesn’t always completely understand the positions she’s advocating.

Was the thread title a callback to the 1964 Mary Poppins movie’s, “Take heart, for Mrs. Pankhurst has been clapped in irons again!”? (a line from the song “Sister Suffragette”.)

Or just coincidence?

Naah…she’s just floating out in space, in a bikini, or less. You might say she’s spaced out.

Since when is protesting illegal?

She’s no heroine, she’s a fucking traitor. I almost hope I’m wrong about the whole atheist thing just so I can see that worthless bitch in Hell.

That line is at the 1:29 mark in this video. Otherwise the phrase “clapped in irons” would be Greek to me.
