In fact, today’s Republicans would see that as a mark of honor. Their voters would reward them for that.
When the political opponents have been so completely demonized that the electorate actually believes that they kidnap children for sacrifices, then you can convince the electorate that you must do anything, ANYthing to eliminate them. Not just win the election; eliminate them entirely.
I don’t exaggerate much when I say that it’s perfectly possible that Republican strategists are looking closely at the Rwandan genocide, and trying to figure out how they can be on the winning side when they instigate a home-grown version.
Now that we’re mostly over the hump of the midterms, back to our regularly scheduled program in progress:
…
The suit filed Friday evening contends that, while former presidents have voluntarily agreed to provide testimony or documents in response to congressional subpoenas in the past, “no president or former president has ever been compelled to do so.”
…
Ya think it might be be because no former president has ever had to be compelled?
Funny, now all of sudden Trump is concerned with following established precedent. He didn’t ever seem to care about it when he was the so-called president.
The suit has not been assigned yet, but the complaint and attached documents are available on Court Listener, for those interested.
He doesn’t want to testify? Fine. Put him in jail until he does. When he finds out he’s going to be married that night, he’ll sing a different tune!
Moderating:
Prison rape jokes not allowed. Stop this.
Even if he gets convicted and even if he get sent to prison, it’s not like he’s going to be in the general pop anyway.
I’m okay with him being in solitary 23 hours a day, spending the extra hour wandering around in an exercise yard b himself.
