Just thought I’d drop back into this thread and find out if anyone in Tokyo was interested in a beer or two sometime in the next two weeks? I’ll be there from this weekend until the 15th. Our office is in Minato-ku (Azabu-Juban station), but I’m pretty comfortable travelling around (especially if it’s to Roppongi).
So? I’ll buy the first round at least. 
June/July anywhere in the Kanto region would probably be best for me, but if I have the whole weekend open, I can be more flexible on the location.

There is NO WAY I can wing my pregnant butt up to Tokyo. And considering Tokyo is out, you can guess what my reaction to Hokkaido would be.
Osakadave and cckerberos are the closest to me…and I couldn’t even get that far.

Hey Tsubaki! Good to see you back. If Kanto doesn7t work out, I may be down your way over Obon. I have a freind who runs a resturaunt in Kannoura, a small town on the border of Kochi and Tokushima, who I may be visiting around then. When’s the baby due?
I’ll be able to make it, If you guys spring for airfare and you have it around the same time the world cup is on.
A place to stay and a very large pile of money to spend on Drink and women would be great also.

The newest anklebiter isn’t due until November, so I actually don’t look too different at the moment. Come Obon I’ll start to be looking like a whale.
Keep in touch re: your Obon plans. For Obon, we usually go to the beach and camp for a night, the guys go fishing and that, but being big this year I don’t know if I’ll go or not. So I may be free to catch up.
Cerowyn, you are a most generous and wonderful person, and if I lived in Tokyo (or anywhere in Kanto) I’d rush over to have a drink with you. I’d be a cheap date, too, since I’m preggers! Alas, Matsuyama is a bit out of the way. I hope someone can join you!

Tokyo is the most convenient (for me), and it also happens to be the middle ground, however I’d be more than happy to travel.
I lived in Aomori for four years and loved it, but would like to go somewhere new.

I just remembered something. Could we not do this on June 19th? I realize it’s a pretty unlikely date as it’s in the middle of the week, but, well… it’s kinda my wedding day, and I don’t think the future Mrs. Sublight would be too thrilled about me ducking out early. Any other day should be ok though.

Sooo… have there been any new developments?
I’m thinking about riding the Shimanami Kaido by bike this summer. If Osakadave and Tsubaki will be there for Obon, maybe I could do my trip then and stop by Matsuyama. I should be free during Obon, though the week after that I have to be in Hawaii for a conference.
For those who don’t know, Shimanami Kaido is one of the three bridge complexes between Honshu and Shikoku, and the only one that allows bikes. Anyone want to join me for the ride?
I’d love to, but getting myself and my bike from Boston to Japan just to ride across a bridge seems kind of hard to justify. I have been meaning to get out of the country for a little vacation, and Japan is in the top five destintions I’d like to see (probably England, Hong Kong, the Low Countries, and the Czech Republic would be the others). So if someone had a place to crash and some advice on how to do everything for a reasonable price and all that, I’d be very tempted.
Anyone know anything about how to find cheap flights to Japan, and about how to transport a bike as well? And about cheap activities to fill maybe a week or so?
So possibly a double dopefest in Japan - Shikoku and Kanto? Coool1

On the other hand, I have to confess to a few occasions that I’ve closed GasPanic before stumbling out to find breakfast about dawn.
With regard to a July date (ref. Kyomara’s post), how about June 29th or July 6th? It’s now looking like I’ll be there from about June 22nd until July 7th.
Both of these dates would be fine by me.
