I doubt that the dogs were trained to find flash drives specifically. The flash drives would have had his scent on them.
They are trained to sniff out electronics. The article says there’s only 5 dogs in America which are trained to do that.

On top of the sexual issues, the guy must not have been too bright. You’d think that he’d know better than to brag about it.
I’m pretty sure that he can be prosecuted in this country for what he did in Thailand, except of course that it’s probably difficult to prove that it was anything other than bragging.
I assume that they were found in his residence, where everything would have his smell.

I read earlier today that because federal prisoners have to serve 85% of their sentences before they can be paroled he will have to do at around 13 years before his earliest possible release date.
That’s about right. He got 188 months prison time, which translates to 15 years and eight months. 85% of that is around 13 years and four months before he can get paroled. Parole, BTW, is not mandatory; the federal parole people may decide that he has to serve every day of that 188 months if he doesn’t cooperate with whatever the Bureau of Prisons tells him to do.
He’s also going to be on supervision for the rest of his life, which means that a federal agent can tell Fogle to jump, and the only thing Fogle can do is ask how high and in what direction. If federal supervision for sex offenders is anything like it is in my state, he may not have Internet access; be able to volunteer with a youth organization; be in a romantic relationship with anyone who has kids under the age of 18; possess items that can be used to attract children; and having a smartphone is a privilege to be earned, not a right. He wouldn’t be able to associate with certain people; be subject to random visits to his home and office; and if he’s caught violating any of the conditions he’s required to follow, he can be sanctioned (get a GPS ankle bracelet, for example) or re-arrested. But who knows. Thirteen years is a long time.
This isnt always true. I know a guy who was sentenced to 14 months in the fed pen for wire fraud but was released in 4 months. I dont think Jared will get similar leniency however.
In this case, it’s already been determined that he’ll have to do the 13 years and change.
Interestingly, prosecutors asked for 12 1/2 years, and the judge exceeded their request.
