I just finished Mary Trump’s latest book (Who Could Ever Love You), and this sounds like the Trump family tradition. Horrible, horrible people.
CBS says Vance will be allowed to lie as much as he wants at the debate and they won’t stand in his way.
Journalistic responsibility? What’s that?
I think this is very likely true, considering his upbringing, which had no men in it to emulate other than an alcoholic grandfather who beat his grandmother and a rotating cast of his mother’s husbands/boyfriends, which he tried to suck up to (sound familiar there?).
He also has no idea how to raise or relate to a kid. That’s all going to be up to his wife.
I think he pretty desperately wants a ‘normal’ family life, but he also has no idea what that really looks like, at least not from the inside.
All of which would be quite sad and worthy of pity, if he weren’t running for the Vice Presidency at the same time. Hey, JD, figure out your own personal issues first, then run for office.
Isn’t that the whole problem with the Make America Great Again movement. Nobody has any idea of how America was Great in the first place?
Or, he could have Dr. Sidney Schaefer help him with his issues – but, on Jadey’s couch, not the doctor’s couch.
Maybe we’re all wrong. Maybe we’re just interpreting everything Vance does in the worst light. This guy who’s been prepping him for the debate seems to like him.
Well that’s one opinion. I read that Vance is prepping with habba the nut so my expectations are tempered.
How can you call yourself a journalist and not fact check. You should just call yourself a question reader.
Emmer also said:
I’m sure doing debate prep with someone so far removed from reality won’t hurt Vance at all…
I suspect that Vance will just say all that stuff as if it were true. And most or all of the Trumpists will believe him.
Trump I think believes that if he says something firmly enough, that’s what truth is. Vance quite possibly knows better, but has probably noticed that Trump’s technique appears to work on quite a lot of people.
Unless one of them loses it entirely, I doubt this debate will make much difference; and I don’t think either of them will do that. However – in this election, even a little difference may turn out to be a big difference.
I believe this. It would be hilarious if Walz kinda gives him the ‘nudge-nudge, wink-wink’ insinuating we all know this, and then watch Cheato go nut-balls with paranoia about Vance being out to get him.
Vance’s people are already trying to spin his expected loss tomorrow by hyping how good a debater Walz is. They must know more than Tim does, because Walz doesn’t consider himself a debater at all.
I’ve heard Vance is a master debater!
I like the way you couched that language!
he is absolutely divan
The former home of Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite is now just a worthless profit-seeking racket. For some strange reason a huge swath of American voters either know nothing or believe in outright lies. I wonder why?
Of course, if they fact-check Vance they’re “clearly biased.” So the media can’t win. mostly /s
Did anyone watch Rachel Maddow tonight? She showed an interview with vance on some rightwing vlog or something. At some point vance mentioned some other guy that Maddow showed clips of at some sort of speech (sorry I didn’t get names or locations I was trying to multi-task gonna see if I can find more detail tomorrow I know this very vague ) anyway this guy vance refernced counciled, among other, wonderful things that the US needs to RAGE: Retire All Government Employees, delete the government, and hire a CEO, which according to this goober is the same thing as a dictator. He opined that [in order to change the government] apparently he thinks all right thinking people do [Americans must get over their dictator phobia.]
So, much of the stuff vance says echos the crap this creepy weirdo was preaching.
Ugh! I can’t believe these creeps share the same country as the rest of us. Obviouly, they don’t want it to be the same country.
The guy’s name is Curtis Yarvin. According to this Vox article from 2022, Yarvin has been espousing these ideas for a while, and – surprise surprise – Yarvin has also been associated with Vance’s patron, Peter Thiel.
Yes, that was the guy. Thank you for clearing up some of my ridiculously vague post.
