Jean-Luc Godard's Sympathy for the Devil

Just watched it again, and while I will always love seeing the evoluton in the studio of “Sympathy for the Devil”, what a piece of crap film. You want to make a movie of the recording of a song, make it. You want to make a documentary of anti-war protests and Marxism and the Black Panthers, make it. But if you insist on combining the two, do NOT show scenes of the Stones in the studio with a narration, in a foreign language.

Maybe there is an edited version out there that only shows the scenes in the studio.

Thank you for that - and that is sincere. This film was showing in Boston when I arrived at college, and I always wondered about it. It is not on YouTube and not on NetFlix, and I didn’t feel like it was worth paying for. Now I know it isn’t. I’ve seen enough Godard from that period that I totally believe your review.

Anybody else think it said “Jean-Luc Picard”?
