I have no idea if this is the right forum for this.
I’m an admirer of Jenna Jameson’s business acumen but I have not admired her other skills first hand. Trying to Google this kind of thing is a recipe for disaster, as you can imagine. So… can you help me out? I read that JJ has not and will not do interracial sex in her videos. Is this true? If so, why?
I have no idea, but I just want to say I never liked Jenna Jameson. Her looks are totally bland, generic and boring to me, slick and soulless like a cheap electronic appliance. There are lots of other much-better women in porn who will take any cock, black, Jewish, Hispanic, Chinese, whatever, as long as it’s hard. If Jameson refuses to be open-minded to the cocks of other cultures, that is her loss. Not ours.
To be fair, Jenna was a stunning beauty when she entered the porn industry in the mid-'90s. Over the last few years, she has undergone a serious of facial plastic surgeries that have made her look hideous, but she used to be a knockout as far as blonde porn babes go.
And, sometimes, soft. I watched a porno the other day where the guy was actually soft the entire time. Granted, he was clearly a shower, not a grower, but it made me wonder what the point was.
As for the OP, I wouldn’t be able to tell you, as I’m not a Jenna Jameson fan. I think most porn viewers under, say, 25 probably aren’t. As this falls into the category of “ignorant pornstar”, though, I don’t think it should be incredibly surprising if the answer is “yes, it’s true”.
Nor should it be considered particularly relevant, as Jenna Jameson has no real cultural importance these days.
She’s still kind of an icon, right? Her autobio sold pretty well, she’s supposedly making a movie about it with Scarlett Johansson playing her. And I just found this article that says she’s Playboy is launching a Club Jenna pay-per-view channel. So I wouldn’t count her out as a brand name, even though I heard she was retired from making porn. Regardless, I’m still wondering about the truth of the interracial thing and the reason behind it if it’s true.
Yeah, but you know like every other post-Boogie Nights Hollywood movie which a character who is a stripper or porn star, they won’t actually show any skin.
Now, if you had a movie with Scarlett Johannson playing the innocent girl next door, or perhaps the seductive femme fatale (I’m thinking a remake of Double Indemnity or Out Of The Past) they’ve have her stripped down to bush in no time flat.
As something of a closet porn-aficionado I can say that this type of thing is exceedingly common. I don’t know if JJ has ever done a interracial scene or not, I’ve never seen one but I don’t claim to have seen a huge proportion of her work as I’m not that big a fan. Her Wiki page does repeat this supposed fact.
In the general sense you will often hear this discussed in various interviews, most popularly on the Howard Stern show. It doesn’t seem to be racism per se. Many of the porn stars who don’t do interracial scenes will often be seen in the tabloids dating black athletes and rappers and most who have been interviewed on the topic say they have no problem with it in theory or in their personal life.
The rationale is always that interracial scenes hurt a stars career. It essentially pigeon holes them as “interracial” stars and therefore limits their opportunities to do other work. The validity of this argument is up for debate, but it seems clear that at least some directors and producers do indeed feel this way. Perhaps it’s some vestige of past racism simply being propagated out of tradition or it’s that by doing interracial scenes the racist minority will not cast you therefore diminishing your options however slightly.
Take it for what it’s worth, but Jenna is by no means uncommon as far as porn stars go. Most likely she’s just guilty of toeing the company line on the subject. She famously dated Tito Ortiz, who is half Mexican, so it’s probably safe to assume she’s not a redneck klansman.
She admitted to having sex with rapper Lloyd Banks but has always been pretty open about growing up in a very racist family. She’s ignorant for sure, but I’m not sure she openly admits to personal prejudice.
They are different, but I think the point is that a person can state that they don’t want to have sex with black person and not be a racist. Attraction is a nebulous thing and porn stars get to pick and choose who they will and won’t work with. Just because Jenna or anyone else doesn’t want to bang a black guy doesn’t necessarily mean racism.
Is it that she doesn’t want to bang one specific black guy, or that she has a rule of no black cocks in general? If it was the latter, I’d be curious to hear her explanation for it. “I’m not attracted to black guys? They don’t turn me on?” Then why are you dating them in your private life? “Their cocks are too big?” There are plenty of white guys with gigantic cocks and black guys with average cocks in the porn business. It’s not true that all black guys just automatically have a huge cock. “It’ll ruin my reputation?” Your reputation? You fuck men on film so that guys can jerk off to you.
I dunno. Even those white men who claim not to be attracted to black women can usually find one or two (at least partially-)black women who turn them on; Halle Berry is probably the most widely-cited example, or was in the first half of this decade, anyway. It’s one thing to say “I don’t find most black/white/Vietnamese/whatever people attractive” or even “I have yet to find a black/white/Vietnamese/whatever person attractive”, but “I cannot and will not ever find a black/white/Vietnamese/whatever person attractive” sounds like racism to me. I think “I have met black men who turn me on, but I wouldn’t be seen having sex with them” (Jenna’s apparent stance) crosses over from “sounds like racism” to “definitely racism” in my book.
I don’t know enough about the inner workings of the industry to weigh in on the theory that starring in interracial porn can take away a star’s options, but:
In today’s porn market, a star can alienate a sizable minority of producers and still probably have hundreds if not thousands of people to work for. Hell, with enough star power and the right niche market (see Wifey’s World or iDeepThroat), one or two performers can rake in money hand over fist pretty much by themselves.
Once someone has the star power that Taylor Rain has now or Jenna had in the late 90s, I highly doubt that person could seriously damage her career by shooting for a couple new niche markets. Some pornstars seem to straddle several niches quite comfortably.
I have always thought that Double Indemnity is one of those movies that is already perfect and should never be remade, but that is before the possibility of naked Scarlett Johannson was brought up.
