I also didn’t notice, and didn’t pick up on Ray Lalonde’s swaying. I hate it when that happens. Not that I want to be annoyed, but what else am I oblivious to as I blunder through life?
Actually, I suspect the show crew doesn’t advise people of stuff like that, because if they do, the contestant will focus on that to the detriment of their gameplay.
I have a question for anyone who has posted that they dislike certain strong players who win many games because they don’t like their personality or behavioral eccentricities. I won’t quote any of the numerous examples.
I don’t follow any sports, but do sports fans feel the same about certain extraordinary athletes? That is, does anyone say “Sure, Joe Blow is a great athlete, but I don’t like his personality?”
Don’t get me started about Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen. Probably one of the top 10 drivers in the history of the sport. And a complete asshole. I hate him.
I just watched Thursday’s episode, having already read this thread, and I noticed that starting in the Double Jeopardy round, Troy stopped saying “uh” before his responses (though he continued to say it every time he selected a clue.)
Speaking for myself, there are a number of sports stars who I don’t really like, personality-wise. And that dislike can stem from their actions on the field of play (Pete Rose, for example), or the comments they make off the field (Aaron Rodgers). But that doesn’t mean I no longer admire their accomplishments. I still believe that Rose belongs in the HOF.
I was annoyed by Matt Amodio’s style of presenting his questions, but I still thought he was a fine player, and I wanted him to continue winning.
Are fans of Jeopardy! more likely to be annoyed by insignificant quirks than fans of other things? Worth asking. I would say probably not; people just enjoy pontificating on (social) media.
Oh, I was slapping my head. He meets a five-time Jeopardy champion and turns it into a story about how she’s a fan of his. I have no doubt that arrogant bastard was already planning what to do with his winnings from the next Champions Tournament. I shouted with joy when he went down. Three times winning was three times too many, but at least we’ll never see him again. Asshole.
It’s a minor hijack, but why Dale? He always seemed a pretty standup guy to me. He was the driver all the other drivers went to for advice and his “feud” with Jeff Gordon was orchestrated to raise interest in the sport. They were business partners off the track.
