She did bet aggressively even if she got it wrong. I wonder if she’s trying to up her average.
This was a normal bet for her, but normally she gets it right.
I must be a bigger SH fan than the contestants – I knew “Lastrade” and “Bohemia” immediately, and they did know Lake Huron* was on Michigan’s east coast?
Amy now has more wins than James Holzhauer (though with less money)

Oops forgot my footnote – hydrologically Lakes Michigan and Huron are the same lake – I’m guessing Jeopardy wouldn’t accept Michigan, but would the accept “Michigan-Huron”?
Brian
I knew the Bonnie and Clyde one because I saw the marker in Louisiana in May.
An easy Final, even if it was a guess.
I’ve never read a single SACD story, yet I know both of those - both Elementary and Sherlock feature both characters and reference the title. They should have got it - these young contestants sure seem to know their modern TV. ![]()
A blog post from Amy – quite an interesting read.
She had an interesting wager in the game where she crossed the million threshold. The game was a runaway and had she missed FJ, her grand total would have been exactly 1,000,000.
Joe Biden’s press conference preempted today’s broadcast here. Did anyone see today’s show and can share what happened?
Amy has spent a lot of money lately with her big wagers in FJ in the last week or so and getting a lot of them wrong. Probably close to a 100k.
You’re right. In the eight games since Jan. 10, she’s only gotten FJ right twice, and the six wrong responses have cost her $97,000 vs. betting nothing, or $194,000 if she had been right.
But she’s always had a lock going into the round, so although her errors have lowered her average, she hasn’t been at risk of losing.
Regarding “Big” Talk $1200 on Wednesday’s show, I’ve read more than once on this right-here website that “big-box stores” are so known not for their own size and shape, but because their offerings typically come in a big box. This does not seem to be the consensus out there, but then nothing I see online looks definitive. It seems that few are aware of more than the one possibility.
I’m skeptical of that. There are so many items in these stores that DON’T come in a big box, but the stores themselves are always boxy.
If you combined the second and third place contestants’ money for FJ, it still wouldn’t have been half Amy’s amount.
Again.
Amy is now (as of Monday) #2 for consecutive wins, passing Matt A.

This is getting really boring, repetitive, and frustrating (as Matt Amodio’s run was towards its end.)
Anyone else think Amy is not actually quite as good as Amodio, Holzhauer, et al, just has faced an unusual dearth of capable challengers?
I don’t think that at all. Many of her challengers have started strong and appeared to be threatening her streak, and she has absolutely annihilated every single one in the end.
She’s the real deal.
Yes, I think so, too. No flashy strategy (and no annoying tics)—just solid knowledge as well as ability to read the Jeopardy!-writers’ quirky clues.
In spite of the apparent newsworthiness represented by her personal history, we have here a refreshingly un-eccentric person who is simply very well-informed and smart about the way the game works.
