Here is why I probably won’t be able to make it. If you scroll down to the comments you can see how we feel about it.
What a typically asinine thing to do. That has to be the worst, to be that close to home and still have some tin-plated idiots and professional windbags screw you over one last time.
BTW: Your post stood out, I think your was the first one I saw that wasn’t gibberish, though some that followed looked well written.
I hope they buy a clue and cancel the silly parade.
What’s your username in that newspaper comment section, Loach? I have a suspicion, but…
Are you close to any of the stops on the NJ Transit rail? I would be coming from Manhattan.
We’ll make pickups and drop-offs at the Middletown Station of the Jersey Coast Line. So far this has worked out well every time.
Just a reader. I don’t make comments on newspaper sites. From a government owned and monitored computer.
We’re getting closer to the Dopefest. Is anyone else interested in coming?
Yup…tickets for the Major Event Of Earth-Shattering Importance are more than I can swing right now (gotta save them pennies for the big road trip in July), so I’m in (possibly with family as well).
So who else is in? Make an out-of-towner feel welcome!
It’s possible, but I wouldn’t bet on it.
I’m back in NJ but stuck on Fort Dix. I don’t think the timing is going to work out. Still a small chance.
I hope they let you out soon. This is still for that goofy parade? Or is it for a real reason at least?
I got here on the 1st. There is a lot of mandatory briefings and paperwork in the demobilization process. You know how the military is. They are trying to squeeze almost 3000 people through over a couple of weeks. I was hoping to be done before the parade because they can’t keep us or force us back just to do that. But I doubt it.
I thought you’d forgotten me be you did remember I was at the other dopefest. I don’t know, then I might be in NYC getting my brains fucked out. :):).Which does take pride of place even over beer and hamburgers. Maybe I can talk Jon(the pride of place guy) to come with.
I was lucky, my muster out was quick and simple, I was one of 4 leaving the service that day from the Ranger, but of course getting me from A school to the Ranger took 3 weeks. Thankfully the duty and hours were pretty good for TPU.
I hope you both make it, the more the merrier.
If anyone needs directions, please Email me or at least PM me with your Email Address.
I’ll be there - looking forward to it!
I’m working until 5. How late do these things go?
Between 6pm and 8pm usually. We’ve often had two shifts. Those that come earlier and leave by 5 or 6 and those that come later and leave later. I’ll email or PM over my number if you like and you can always call first. Heck you live closer than anyone if I remember correctly. I will gladly fire up the grill again for whenever you get there.
I hope you decide to come by.
I’ll drop you a PM. The timing might work out for me to at least stop by for a while.
