BTW, the alternate directions worked great:
- 5.9 miles to (a clearly marked) route 18
- another 12 before crossing route 1 and re-entering familiar territory
- 25 miles total to route 287
- 59.4 miles total to get home, in just about an hour-twenty.
- And no tolls!
Not a route that I’d take during rush hour, but definitely better than the Garden State on a summer weekend.
