Ok. Giant Eagle had almost no peanut butter on the shelf. Not even my smuckers natural! There was, I think, giant eagle brand. crawls into corner, chewing on pillowcase…
Paranoid type that I am I can’t help wondering if there’s some link between this and the baby formula thing.
Interesting to see the substitution effects here in San Antonio. You can barely find Skippy, any variety, yet Peter Pan is plentiful.
Our Walmart’s shelves were practically bare of all peanut butter. No Skippy or Peter Pan. I needed a jar of cheap peanut butter for giving the dogs their meds, so I bought one of the last jars of Great Value. After I got it home I saw that the Best Buy Date was 6/22/22. Oh well, the dogs won’t care.
I followed the instructions in the newspaper article about the recall and reported my unopened jar online. My jar was indeed on the recall list.
What I don’t understand is why it will take them up to six weeks to get me a coupon for a replacement jar. Best reason I could come up with is that it will take that long to get product back on the shelves.
The store where we bought the tainted PB happily refunded our money despite us having no receipt and two of the jars being half-devoured.
mmm
I just brought mine to the service desk at Walmart and another jar to the local grocery store. They both gave me my money back. I didn’t even have receipts.
I was reading something and saw a headline in a side panel about Jif recall.
I had just finished eating some from a newly opened jar. Talk about timing.
Got a store robocall plus a thing on a receipt. Apparently if I take the two jars I have back, I’ll get a refund.
wow there hasnt been a mess this big since peter pan a while back
Jealous! I still can’t get Jif extra crunchy.
Jif was back on the shelves at our store last Sunday. Bought another brand for some reason.
Yeah, I’ve eaten Skippy all my life. My mom or dad got Jif once, and I didn’t like it. Greasier and sweeter. Found out recently that Jif has more sugar than Skippy, so I’ll continue to stick with Skippy. I only like noticeably sweet peanut butter if it’s in candy (like Reece’s). Otherwise, I like it with almost no sweetness…if I want any of that, I’ll make a PB&J and get the sweet from the jam (or something similar).
As I stated above, I used the website to check the unopened jar we had. Yes, it was recalled.
It took the people at Smuckers quite a while to make it right, but in today’s mail I got 2 coupons good for up to $7 off any Jif product, and 11 coupons good for up to $3.50 off any Jif product. All are good to 6/30/2023.
We like peanut butter, but there’s only the 2 of us. It looks like our local food pantry will be getting a few jars of Jif.
