The Ohio Democratic congressional candidate running against Jim Jordan has launched what is in my opinion a powerful campaign ad. This guy is a non-politician and I hope that he can unseat Jim. Here’s a link for your viewing pleasure.
Love this guy’s common man straight talk…the ad is well done, with the shot of Jordan flanked by Gaetz being timely and effective…and the line, delivered perfectly “Jim Jordan doesn’t give a damn about people like us”…pure gold right there.
I have no idea if Jeff Sites has a real chance to win, but I love this ad and hope he can do it.
Great ad. In the good name of Petri Skriko I just do not understand how Ohioans could watch it and still vote for Gymbo. Sites really laid all the cards out on the table; nothing inflated/incorrect.
To be a fly on the wall, with Gymmie, Matt, Devon on a Friday afternoon, hitting some private bar, or somewhere in the bowels of the Capitol.
Can flies ‘puke’? Or in any way manifest disgust?
It is a good ad, but I don’t think it’s going to change very many minds or votes – the fact that everything he says is true will be irrelevant. From what I’ve seen, conservative Republicans just don’t care about anything except keeping conservative Republicans in office. They’re certainly not going to vote for “health care for all, protect(ing) voting rights” or “hold(ing) Jordan … accountable for attacking our democracy.” It’s a shame, but true.
He doesn’t. Sorry. This is simply not a close district. Jordan got 68% of the vote in 2020.
And these “killer campaign ads” often turn off actual voters, though in this case I suspect 100% of the views will be from people who already hate Jim Jordan. I wouldn’t be shocked if the ad isn’t even running on local TV stations and cable systems. The purpose of the ad isn’t to convince people to vote for its candidate, but to separate online Democrats from their wallets.
There should be opposition everywhere, of course, but this district does not need a high-dollar campaign with fancy consultants raking in huge amounts of money (see also, Kentucky Senate races).
Well, as we learned in this historical documentary brought to us by the talented Seth Brundle, flies do, in fact, regurgitate. It’s a vital component in their dietary cycle. They vomit on food to help break it down, as they have no teeth.
I agree. There will be a round of redistricting before the next election, but with Republicans having an iron grip on the process in Ohio I don’t expect that Jordan’s district will change much.
There’s not any realistic district map that would get rid of him anyways. Even on the Democrats’ dream map, there would have to be a Republican vote-sink in west-central Ohio.
Sometimes, on Twitter, I see people use the fact that his district has an ugly shape as evidence that he’s a beneficiary of gerrymandering, but unfortunately the reverse is true. His district was drawn to be less safe, snaking up to take in some Democrats west of Cleveland (many of them aren’t Democrats any more but they still were in 2011). You could easily draw a more compact district out there where he’d get more like 80%.
