Jimmy Fallon's mustache: not helping.

So, up front, I am a Colbert fanboy. But I am catching pictures of Fallon’s 'stache.

Nice and thick, but he’s no Ron Swanson.

How do Fallon fans feel?

I watch his show often enough. It’s silly and lighthearted which works because I’m generally not in the mood for a political discussion with my wife at 11pm. The moustache lark seems right in line with the usual tone of the show.

Let’s not forget Colbert’s head shaving stunt if you want a comparison.

That mustache makes him look like a pornographer. It’s a tad unsettling.

Did he lose a bet or something?

Jimmy Kimmel with a beard: yes.

Jimmy Fallon with a mustache: no.

Huh, the poster behind him - without the beard - looks like Jimmy Kimmel as played by Larry Hagman.

Have we gotten to the part where he whispers “Rosebud”?

If anything it makes me more want to bash his skull in with a brick.

I was thinking more “Pucker up, buttercup.”

Makes him look like a 3rd rate used car salesman. One of those guys so bad at it they don’t even know the difference between a 6-cylinder and an 8-cylinder.

Once in a while someone buys the car out of pity.

Pleasant.

It doesn’t work, and I peer Colbert, but I don’t, you know, want to bash him with anything.

It (the mustache) doesn’t work, and I prefer Colbert. Sigh.

I think it would look better if the moustache was more Gomez from the Addams family, and less John Bolton. So a bit like this.

Oh, yeah!

A more cultivated mustache ala Walter Cronkite would look fine. The weird “mustaches are all bad” crap needs to stop.

Can someone explain what the 'stache thing is all about? All I can find - and I think I heard him mention it - is the “summer of the 'stache” or something. Is there more to it, say a charity or a political statement?

Did anyone say “all mustaches are bad”? I think they are generally not a good look for most men and Jimmy is no exception. Of course his is obviously extra bushy and porn like for comic effect (right?).

The attempted social shaming that comes with anyone who dares wear one needs to stop. There are some men who look better with them than without them (such as myself, who can’t pull off a beard or a goatee and who looks too young cleanshaven). Mustaches are not all about “porn and child molesters.” Mustaches were worn long before porn existed. This Gen X hatred of them because their dads wore them…you need to let it go.

Less Gomez Addams, and more John Waters.

No, society doesn’t work like that and it never has. If you want to defy social rules, you’re free to do so. But society is still going to judge you by its rules.

You, like everyone else, has to make a fundamental choice in life. You either live within society’s expectations or you live with society’s disapproval.

OK, dad. Can a borrow the car anyway?
