“Robin Laid an Egg
The Batmobile Lost its wheel
And…”
When you were growing up what was the next line? For me it was “and the commissioner broke his leg”. I never heard “And the Joker got away” until I was an adult (it may have even been when they did that way on Batman TAS ). What was it for you?
While we’re here? What about: Joy to the world, the teacher’s dead I barbecued her/his head! If you’re looking for the body, I flushed it down the potty Round and round it goes, just like GI Joes Around and aaaaround, around it goes!
“commissioner ran away” - that makes no sense, but it is how I sing it in my head. MN, 1960’s. I should check with the siblings, I’m semi-famous for mondegreens.
I suddenly thought maybe I’d misremembered this, given all the "joker ran away"s in the thread, but googling says I wasn’t alone. [I mean, I could still be misremembering, but at least I have company of some kind]
