I didn’t like the movie Willow, but I thought Joanne Whalley was one of the loveliest women in the world. So when I heard she was going to be in Daredevil, I tried to figure out what role she’d take. Elektra was taken. Typhoid Mary? Lady Bullseye?
Nope. She’s going to play Sister Maggie. I won’t spoil the character’s significance, but this tells me two things:
I’m really frickin’ old!
Season 3 could focus on the events in Born Again, which is my favorite comic storyline of all time.
I feel like this storyline was hinted at last season? Or am I wrong?
I am kind of hoping season 3 (which will probably be the last season with all the Disney/Netflix/Reboot stuff) branches out of DD history and does something with The Hood or Mr. Negative.
While I agree with your assessment of Ms. Whalley from her Willow days, yeah, it should have been pretty f’n obvious she wasn’t going to be anyone in tights. Man, I’ll take a hit of whatever you are having if you truly thought she would end up in either of those roles.
Netflix owns the rights to those shows jointly with Marvel. I don’t know how long the contract is good for, but it’s going to be complicated and expensive for Disney to pull the rights for those show.
Willow is thirty years old. She ain’t no spring chicken anymore.
I had such high hopes for these Defenders series, but half of them are not good, and the other half fall short in fundamental ways too. New Jessica Jones soon, though (March 8th).
Disagree about the Defenders shows. Iron Fist was bad, and the last 3-4 episodes of Luke Cage could have been better, but other than that, they were very well done and the Defenders mini-series was very entertaining, though limited somewhat by budget from what it could have been.
