Job Interview Offer

I’ve been a State of Tennessee employee for more than 15 years, most of them stuck in a dead-end job.

And now, an interview offer–Eligibility Councilor 1, at Family & Child Services.

Dunno about the wages, or what my chances are, but I’m not turning down a chance to interview.

Left a phone message on the lady’s machine this evening, & I will call again tomorrow.

I want that interview.

Best of luck:cool:

Is that government as well or an NPO?

In any case, best of luck!

My luck just curdled.

Chills, fever, congestion & dizziness.

Plus she ain’t returned the calls.

With 15 years in the state retirement system, it would take one hell of an offer to get me to leave. You’re what…10 years away from full retirement?

Oak: It sounds to me like the job opening is also in the State system; just a different location & duties.

Ahhh…I missed that.

I did very similar work in another state (could even be the same job depending on what the job you mentioned entails - I did Medicaid/Food Stamps but not cash assistance). I loved it - the pay sucked ass but I learned a lot.

If you do it you WILL get jaded - don’t fight it, it’s either get jaded or get depressed.

Hope the illness doesn’t keep you from applying!

Give them a call, and often they can work around it.

Coming from a gov’t employee who was stuck in a worst of the worst position for 5+ years, and escaped to a somewhat better one…

I had an interview offer from a Department of Defense installation (Cameron Station) once but couldn’t figure out where the entrance was!

I’ve called–no reply, just an answering machine.

So I emailed.

Still sick, & going to my doctor this morning.

I have a job, but was trying to move up.

But not what I interviewed for.

Even worse than the one I got. :smack:

Turned it down, as many other have, or so that’s the impression I got.

Low pay, workload to the max, & 3 months of living in a cheap, bug-ridden motel in another town, while I trained.

50% quitting rate in the first 6 months.
