For some reason, the movie I remember him from is 1973’s Cops and Robbers. It seemed as if I saw the trailer for it a zillion times.
Cops and Robbers is one of my favorite heist movies; hopefully someday they’ll release a widescreen version (like it was originally shown in theaters).
And My Favorite Year is just a masterful comedy, a perfect 10/10 movie.
RIP Mr. Bologna; thanks for everything.
I loved “Top of the Heap.” All 6 episodes (plus, the pilot from, “Married With Children.”).
I loved him in Blame It On Rio.
::cars pass them on their way to a beach wedding::
“Can we go see the wedding Daddy?”
“We’ll wait and catch the divorce.”
I remember him from a fairly obscure little TV show in the 1980s called Rags to Riches, about a businessman who takes in a group of orphans to boost his image but, naturally, decides he really cares about them.
Obligatory IMDb link.
Usually when obits mention a specific role over and over it’s because the actor was a one-hit wonder or they’re ignoring a lot of other quality work.
It’s sort of like the latter here, but not all that much. He had a lot of other good stuff. But My Favorite Year just stands out so far in greatness you have to talk about it.
Plus Blame It On Rio (with Serious Actor* Michael Caine) and the other Jersey Girl movie.
