I agree with Slacker, particularly after the juicy clips from next week with the rejected girls cussing Evan out. That’s going to be F-U-N. I want them all to say it to his face, as he stands there like a giant mook, but I don’t think it’s going to happen the way I want.
[QUOTE]
Notice that whenever there are uncomfortable silences etc. during the dates, Evan always
blames the woman (or the “girl,” as he prefers to say). Like when he was with Zora a couple of
weeks ago, and he complained that the week before she had been stand-offish and had not
“opened up” to him. Of course, it’s never his fault for being a dimwit and an awful
conversationalist who has nothing of interest to say.

And, in Sarah’s case, he’s filled those silences with smooching. Cleverly captioned by the crack Fox editing team. Sarah thinks she’s got it in the bag because of all their make-out sessions, but Evan suspects she’s after the money.
And did you check out the body language on Zora on their walk in the woods? Arms crossed, not walking alongside Evan, and the lack of any kind of greeting or goodbye? I don’t think she’s into him at all, in addition to the fact she’s really camera-shy and reticent to put any of her private life out there. Which I respect, but then why go on a reality show?
:smack:
Apologies for the dismal coding; the quote should also be attributed to Menocchio, a font of wisdom in this thread.
I also wanted to add that Paul’s butlering and the delivery of his commentary began to grate on my nerves last night. I did like his dish on Sarah, though.
Of course it’s a game show. Has anyone suggested otherwise?
Anyway, I’ve never watched a reality show before, but I love Joe Millionaire. It’s just such a tacky train wreck I can’t look away.
Have to agree with this comment - the editing on this show is masterful. I’m sure they just grab whatever facial expression seems appropriate, with no concern for the actual reaction at the time, but it makes for some pretty good TV.
I’m think Mojo might have meant that they didn’t know that the audience would know he was poor from the start.
I don’t know why so many people slam Evan. He seems like a pretty lovable goof, in a tough position (of his own making). Yeah, he’s kissing a bunch of different girls on camera, but that’s the nature of the show. I guess I’m just not cynical enough. I can’t buy into these “they all just want exposure on TV” theories. I believe he’s really looking for a relationship.
So he calls the women ‘girls’. So what? That’s pretty common, in my experiece for people in their 20’s. I don’t see it as an insult. (Niether does my 25 year old fiancee.)
The only thing worthwhile in this episode was Sarah’s sour grapes comment to Zora that Menocchio mentioned. It’s always nice to get more confirmation that she’s a major biyotch.
The “Zora or Sara are millionaires all along” angle is pretty preposterous because that would mean Fox found 20 millionairesses that were willing to be on the show. No way.
Seems he feels more comfortable with Sarah than Zora, but they both intimidate him, only in different ways. Sarah has more (snort) culture but like everybody says, Zora hasn’t really warmed up to him.
What I don’t get is that all through the “series”, none of these people have talked (at least on camera) about anything except what was going on right at that moment.
Did they never talk about music, movies, books, TV, school, cars, sports, jobs? I realize that no one’s making a lifelong commitment here, but they could have at least put up a front and found out who’s country and who’s rock and roll.
And I’d have been all over that house and grounds, looking at the furniture, checking the bookshelves, etc – I can’t believe none of those women snooped around the chateau, walked around the grounds (without Evan), went to town, shopped? What a waste of time. I hope they did some of that stuff and we just didn’t see it.
