John Prine in critical condition [EDIT: RIP]

Great songwriter RIP

I’m listening to a Top 100 John Prine songs playlist on Youtube. Perfect soundtrack for a rainy day while sheltering in place.

Damn. I hope they’ll follow his wishes regarding distribution of his last remains, and not bury him in the cold, cold ground.

The deaf can take both his ears if they don’t mind the size.
mmm

Yep.

Last night was a sad one for my wife and me. :frowning:

You mean:

When I die let my ashes float down the Green River
Let my soul roll on up to the Rochester dam

Last October I spent WAY too much for Prine tickets at the Peabody in St Louis…I took my brother for his birthday.
We both knew that was the last time we would see John. It was an excellent experience. I would be a months pay there was not a dry eye in the house.
You can gaze out the window get mad and get madder,
Throw your hands in the air, say “; What does it matter?”;
But it don’t do no good to get angry,
So help me I know

RIP John…tell Jerry and Steve Howdy!

And it wasn’t just the words and music, which were great and in a class of their own. But his stage persona was the real person, you can’t fake that. In any video clip you can find, or if you were fortunate enough to see him in person, you saw John Prine.

And the reality of that person, John, and his love of life and the heartfelt way he looked at it, came through the music.

Bob Dylan wrote and sang some great works of art, but I never got the feeling that I would like to know this person and spend time talking to him. He always seems separate from his art.

Not John Prine.

So sorry, Sam Stone. Of course I thought of you first.

Folk Alley, out of Kent State, has a 4 hour play list. https://www.folkalley.com/featured/playlist-folk-alleys-john-prine-essentials

Started to type something, then thought I really don’t have any words.

This hurts me deep inside.

This makes me happy and sad
