Dunno, but he, she, it, or they probably have a really nice… bouquet.
Thanks to the earlier questions thread, I learned you were a woman, and I remembered that, so that’s a miricle in it’s self. I hope to hear how things are going in the future with your endeavor. I found that my lettuce lived until the temp hit single digits, without my cold frame. This year would have been a good one to raise it in the winter. I would have had it growing until a few weeks ago and be ready to grow and cut again in February I’m sure.
This bears repeating. YOU ROCK!
Wait! :::::Blows whistle::::: TWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!
What is Fantasy TV?
I live under a rock.
Ooh! Congrats!
Psst…can I interest you, in your new garden-journalist capacity, in yet another feature of my Dutch hometown Maastricht? Rock Garden “Ber Slangen” (named after the former owner).
This English garden site litsts the garden in the top-100 of interesting collectors- gardens world-wide. And within that top-100, this garden might wel be the tiniest one, and the most interesting one visually.
Over 400 species of plants are gathered in a space the size of an American living-room. The effect is that of a mountain landscape, perfect in perspective to the last detail.
I could make you some copy-right free pictures if you like!
Dang, that looks interesting! I actually may be coming to the Netherlands next spring – not clear whether it would be for when the daffodils are in bloom, or the tulips (damn, I have a tough job) – will put that on my list of places to check out.
And while you’re on the way over, you can hit Ottawa for the Tulip Festival.
Maastricht, could you link to a few of those pics in this thread?
Here’s the garden’s website.
You know, I think this is VERY unfair that Dopers like Twickster so much just because she’s nice and friendly and helpful and witty and smart and fun.
Why can’t we embittered, nasty, disagreeable sumbitch trollish jerks get a little play once in a great while? I’m just saying…
Your hust rubbing us the wrong way.
The sound you hear is my paws thumping up and down in a Snoopy dance. Congratulations!
Great idea! Maastricht is a two hour drive away from the major bulbfields around the town of Lisse, and the Keukenhof , our national bulb-showpiece garden. My e-mail is in my profile if you’d like to get some insiders advice (I’m a botanist myself).
Here’s another tip: the Floriade. You could report on the preparations of this big garden-exposition, held every ten years. The next one’s in 2012 in my province Limburg, and they’re curently busy laying the foundataions so they can have flowering gardens to show in 2012.
That would be really cool! If I do come over, I’ll definitely start a thread to see if people want to get together – I hope you’ll be available!
Mazel tov, twicks!
So, are you going to wait till spring to start a “Ask the garden diva…” thread, or what?
Update:
We got the first batch of reader-response cards.
Just about every article got mentioned at least once as someone’s favorite.
And I honest-to-God did a truly geeky, full-tilt physical version of the dance of joy in the middle of the office.
