Join me in wishing this man a slow and painful death

I agree. no excuse for harming a defensless animal. I saw a story on our local news not to long ago about a man who beat his dog to death with an axe for taking food off a table. Even more disgusting was the fact his girlfriends children were there to witness this despicable act.

You…you…there are no words. JUST AN ANIMAL? So are YOU!!! We all are!
Would you like someone to kick you to death?
Do you think that that puppy didn’t feel any pain? That it didn’t KNOW it was dying? Jesus Fucking Christ. Walk up to an “animal” sometime and look at them. Look at their eyes. How are they different from you?
I can’t even discuss this.

Well, how about this: Make him re-enact the crime for the court. I volunteer my dog for him to choke.

Uh, Maggie is a German Shepherd, 125 lbs with a 26" collar.

Results may vary.

No, I’m afraid it wasn’t.

First, it was a PUPPY, not a full grown dog. It had no chance to defend itself. It had no way of knowing it was wrong to turn the carpet into a toilet facility, and definitely didn’t deserve to be beaten like that.

Second, dogs are not just one more poop-producing machine on the planet. They are loving, caring, intelligent creatures who seek our companionship as much as we seek theirs. They depend on us for nuturing, support, medical care, and attention; we depend on them for affection, friendship, and a sense of happiness in our lives. I really think my life would be missing something if it wasn’t for my golden retriever, Snoopy.

I think that poor little puppy deserves every bit of our sympathy.

Sorry, but sign me up for the “just a dog” category. It never ceases to surprise me how attached people get to mere animals. In the eyes of the law (and my eyes as well), it’s no different from kicking any other posession.

Frankly, if it wasn’t his girlfriends, but a strangers dog that defecated on his carpet, I’d be rooting for him to get a settlement out of the dog owner for damages.

Alright, bitch-lovers, bitch away…

I like you Lurker. Please give your shep a milkbone for me.

You are the witty one.

This is, of course, the “I don’t want anybody to hurt CUTE animals” thread. UGLY animals and, obviously, EDIBLE and TASTY animals are not, I take it, deserving of these impressive waterfalls of love and protection.

They are too. Take that back! Hey, I’M an ugly animal. I love me, and all my ugly animal friends!

Some uneducated folks think that because it says in the Old Testament the God gave humanity “dominion” over animals that means we can do anything we like to them. Not so. The original language and wording used is the same as that for a king and his subjects. And a king, although having power and privileges, has obligations and responsibilities to those he reigns over. He can’t just do anything he feels like. “Oh well, I think it would be fun to shoot a peasant from my tower today” just isn’t an option.

It is NOT just an animal. If we take it in we have the obligation to care for it to the best of our abilities. That means food, shelter, medical care, etc. And love never hurts either. We may be the master/mistress but that just means we have assumed a duty, not that we have become all-powerful.

I do wildlife rescue and re-hab with a small, local assocation (I specalize in reptiles and get called out for problem snake removal). We see a lot of this crap involving animals that had the misfortune to wander into the wrong place. I’m just glad that SOMETHING came of this asshole’s being charged. All too often, it goes un-punished.

Incidently, dogs are far from among my favorites. But that doesn’t mean I’ll stand by and see one abused. Also, from what I’ve read, these criminals that abuse animals often graduate to people.

obfusciatrist

For the first part about it just being a dog: Have you owned a dog? Have you ever come home from work and seen how excited this animal is to see you? He doesn’t do that for everyone, either, he’s really only that excited for you. Have you ever seen the trust in their eyes? What is just a dog, if not a living creature that is taken into someone’s home wanting nothing more than love and protection?

AS for the second part, how the hell do you know how we all would react? You honestly think nobody here would be screaming for this man’s head if he beat an old woman to death? Nice of you to share our thoguhts and feelings with us, otherwise we may not know how we would react in that situation. I’m glad you’re here to inform us of our proper response. Can you tell me how I’ll react when that brat kid down the street puts a dent in my new car next week? Don’t pretend you know how our minds work.

bill H - the “just a dog” part of the above is directed at your comments too. I don’t expect to change your mind, but owning a dog is much like having a 2 year old child, and people get attatched in the same way.

And what drew you to that conclusion? I can’t speak for everyone here (you have to ask obfusciatrist for that, he knows how we all think), but I’m against abuse of animals of al kinds. Killing for food is not abuse, it’s a necessity of life. Talke deer hunting for example - there’s a beautiful animal - you wanna shoot it and eat it, fine go ahead. You wanna catch it and poke sharp sticks at it’s eyes and kick it and burn it with cigars, you’re a heartless bastard worthy of some serious payback. Same if you treat a crocodile (an ugly animal) in the same way. I hope one day that croc takes a bite out of its abuser’s ass.

Check off one more for the “it’s never just a dog” point of view. Although I agree with Crunchy Frog about not expecting those of you who think otherwise to change your minds.

Snooooopy, about the “cute animal” remark… I love animals, and I don’t limit my belief that they should be treated with kindness and decency to just the cute ones. For example, I am not a big fan of rats, they creep me out. But my head almost exploded in the park last week when some stupid kid was throwing rocks at a park rat, crowing about how he’d killed it. For the record, he hadn’t, he just thought it was cool to say so, and his mom dragged him away right quick.

The thought that anyone could do to an animal what this man did just sickens me. But in case anyone’s wondering, yes, I would feel similarly if he’d beaten an old woman to death, or a small child. Don’t assume I wouldn’t.

I live in MA, on the border of RI, and I saw this on the local news. What that online article didn’t mention was that this is the third time this bastard has been charged with animal abuse. He has also beeen charged with choking a 6 week old kitten to death, and killing another dog.
I hope he drops dead in jail.

Am I wrong, or did your sig used to say ‘stir well, puppy on bottom?’
If not you, who was it?
Apologies as necessary,

The daughter of a former Mayor was murdered ans thrown onto the street form a moving car. He was on the radio essentially beggng any witnesses to come forward and mentione that he was bitter that there was a bigger reward raised to find the guy who threw a poodle into traffic after an accident.
What are your thoughts?

So far no one has mentioned that most serial killers have a history of animal abuse, torture and killing.

I find it quiet ironic that there was a picture of Jeff Dahmer on the same page as this article. He too started out with animals before moving on the the “Big game”.

I see nothing incongruous with being a meat-eater and an animal lover. Animals that are grown for food are treated well and killed in a humane fashion. My husband and son hunt deer and pheasant and those animals are treated humanely as well.

I’ve always had a dog or cat and currently have 2 Brittanies. They are probably a little spoiled but well behaved and healthy.

One final thought, a Jack Russell puppy? It must weigh what about 2 or 3 pounds? How difficult would it be to get it in a cage? couldn’t you just throw a towel over it and pick it up. That guy sound like a sick bastard and if his GF stays with him, she deserves what she gets when he decides that she “needs to be taught a lesson” about something she is the one on the receiving end of his anger.

No, that wasn’t me. My first couple sigs were quotes from Shayna, and then had the link to a pic of me in the ugly-ass tuxedo jacket.

I don’t recall seeing that sig, I don’t know whose it was.

My thoughts on your other post:
Yes, I love animals, but I also believe human life is more important than animals’ lives; if I see a person and a cat drowning, I save the person first, obviously. But that doesn’t make abuse or needless killing of an animal justified. And who offered the higher reward, the state or the poodle’s owner? If the state, then it’s BS; if it’s the owner, than that’s their business.

I am not a dog fan in general (I like them, but I don’t love them the way I do cats), but I do tend to fall in love with specific dogs. Except for retrievers – I love 'em all. Particularly my mom’s six-year-old golden, Casey, one of the sweetest dogs ever. She took one look at me and I was hooked.

Bastard. How could anybody do that to a PUPPY?

I’ve got to call my mom and tell her to fuss over Casey for me…

What a dick. People like this make me wish I actually believed in Hell. I hope he gets ass raped in prison.
