It would seem that our moderators have such a tough time keeping the SDMB populace in order, that perhaps a “Citizen on Patrol” organization is needed. I will happily act in a liason capacity to submit applicant names to the “Lovely Lynn Bodini” for approval. I’m sure when we have** *Official SDMB CoPs ***on patrol, this message board will be a lot safer for the average citizen.
Just think of the power you will have as an SDMB CoP:
[ul]
[li]The ability to correct a posters grammar errors without adding to the OP[/li][li]Be entitled to the special priviledge of berating posters over and over on what is or isn’t acceptable, eliminating the need to e-mail a Mod that someone is being a jerk.[/li][li]Hi Opal![/li][li]Determine a posters ability to post in specific forums, so they don’t impede others who rightfully post there.[/li][li]Do drive-by postings.[/li][li]Correct other posters attitudes, who seem to have become mean and do not contribute to the OP.[/li][li]Officially call the Whaaaaaaaambulance for whiney posters. [sub] thanks Jodi[/sub][/li][/ul]
There may be many other perks available once we get the CoP force fully engaged, mayhaps a flashing yellow light for on top of your monitor as you keep the boards free of vermin, whiners, dumb newbies, and CloDs. How about a utility belt too? It will almost look like you have a gun! OHHH, the POWER!
Sign up now and avoid the rush!
It’s where a poster comes into a thread and drops a post that often has questionable relevance to the topic at hand, and then the poster never goes back to that thread – so any comments or questions directed to DBP’er are never acknowledged or answered.
IMO you can look at some of handy’s posts for good examples of “drive-by posting”.
You know, Anachronism, you should lurk for a while before you post questions like this. Maybe if you had a better understanding of how the board works, you wouldn’t have to ask suck stupid questions.
Besides, you really should have asked the question in ATMB, not here. Perhaps a mod will come along soon and move it for you.
[sub][sup]How’d I do? Do I get the job? I really, really want to be a CoP[/sup][/sup]
Billdo, you blew it. You had Anachronism on the ropes–pissed, near tears, and posting a new “Billdo is a poo-poo head” thread–and then you tell him you were just joking? I don’t think you are CoP material.
For starters, get rid of the space between your last letter in the sentence and your punctuation.
Also, You must read up on the law of diminishing returns as it pertains to exclamation points. Three is the limit, and three should only be used in life and death situations. You should never go above one or two for everyday usage.
CoPs should also have the ability - no, responsibility - to tell another poster that’s annoying the CoP that everyone else on the boards thinks he’s an imbecile and that we all think he should never, ever, under any circumstances post here again.
Penalty for going against the CoP’s edict: snide one-liners in every thread in which the offending poster participates, bitchy references to the offending poster’s “past”, and relentless nitpicking of every thought expressed by the offending poster.
