Jokes everyone but you finds funny

Well, the joke in Idiocracy isn’t that the guy gets kicked in the balls, it’s that society devolved so far that “Ow My Balls!” Is a hit show.

Joe

I think we’re already at that point.

Any fish-out-of-water type humor, where the main character has switched bodies with someone else, and now they have to try and navigate through that person’s world (like Freaky Friday). I don’t find awkward social moments in real life funny, why would I laugh at them in fiction?

Most pranks aren’t funny, either. If they don’t involve physical injury, humiliation, or property damage, then I can get behind them (one of the senior pranks for my high school involved creating an imaginary student, then having him run for class president…THAT was funny). But if any of the above are present, forget about it.

Even more generally, I just don’t find jokes that are all “HEY THIS IS A JOKE LAUGH AT IT” all that funny. When it comes to comedy, I much prefer subtlety.

mel brooks.

I agree with every one of these, except Jackass, which I love!

Fart jokes and other bodily functions
Stereotypes
Foul language for no reason
Humiliation or pain “humor”

Really, anything that sends a junior high age boy into gales of laughter pretty much has no appeal for me.

bolding best belly laugh of the day! I just keep saying “shit stew” in my head and I can not stop laughing.
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I hate TV ads where the joke is that the product is so good you can’t share it. I don’t like you, spoiled, selfish characters! It isn’t funny to grab some delicious food your family member was looking forward to and eat it yourself!

Maybe no one actually finds those funny, though.

This is a strange one. Is it the aversion to black people in general, or to the “humor” they are trying to deliver to you?

Personally, I can’t stand Comedies with Martin Lawrence in them. Mainly because he can’t act for shit and I’m just not that interested looking up his nostrils (Death at a Funeral, I’m looking at you.)

I know this sounds racist, but black comedians in front of a black audience are very difficult for me to watch and/or listen to. The swearing (especially the f-bombs), the grabbing of crotches and dick jokes, etc. just don’t work for me. I can understand if there are cultural references that I don’t get… that’s fine. But I don’t sense any sort of skill or intelligence at all in their acts. I always enjoyed Chris Rock and his comedy until I saw him in front of a black audience. He talks differently, he swears constantly, and he’s unrecognizable.

I know… I’m whitey, and whitey don’t get it, but still… he’s literally two different human beings. There’s the white Chris Rock and there’s the real Chris Rock. It’s just strange.

You’ve insulted my favorite movie.

Prepare to die. :stuck_out_tongue:

Monty Python…

::d&r::

Everything in The Princess Bride.

Said in offices, schools, and everywhere on the last day in December…

“See you next year!”

For whatever reason, that has done nothing but chap my ass since I was 7.

Yeah, we should all have lives as devoid of pain as mine. But it still irritates me!

Judd Apatow and the crude comedies of the past 10 years. Knocked Up, Something about Mary, Wedding Crashers… god, I cannot wait until there’s another seismic shift in what America Considers Funny because, other than the Coens, the past decade has sucked in regard to comedy movies.

The Three Stooges
Anything from Jackass (or similar “frat boy” style humor)
Drunk humor
Almost all fart humor
Anything involving tricking someone into being agitated or upset for the entertainment of others.
Chimps. I hate chimps. They are never funny.
Any joke or humor perpetrated by Adam Sandler.

Keep away!

I fucking hate keep away. Back in school, in the few times this was done to me, I never went after my item… I went after the person. One guy I planted my foot in his nuts, and grabbed the book as it fell from his hands. Got into a fight a couple of days later, but I acquitted myself well (let’s just say my other foot made its acquaintance with his nuts), so he went after easier targets.

I’m getting pissed off just thinking about it.

Yes. My colleague is putting her daughters through college and occasionally I can hear her on the phone lamenting about the cost. Well, last xmas she got a card with a fake lottery ticket that was a “winner” for $10,000. She called her friend to tell her (yay!) and then the friend let on that it was fake. Haha, good laugh for the friend. but total heartbreak for my colleague. Very cruel.

Also.. black comedians and Hispanic comedians (especially George Lopez), etc etc… making fun of their own ethnic heritage. Not funny ever.

Hidden camera-type shows; Punk’d; Da Ali G Show; phone scams on some top-40 morning zoo-style radio shows. When the “humor” is based on some unsuspecting rube who then becomes the joke. I never understood how people found this funny. Also, America’s Funniest Home Videos. I guess I’m not American, because they’re not funny to me.

You know, I was in agreement with you. But I read this earlier and I thought it was funny.

I don’t get referential humor. I don’t follow pop-culture, at all, so that’s probably part of it. But a joke that relies on me knowing who someone is or what they’ve done (even if I’ve heard of them) is rarely funny to me.

have you watched *Amercia’s Funniest Videos *lately? We’re there, dude. The real kicker is that Idiocracy is a horror flick disguised as comedy.

Yes. Yes. And Yes.
