We could definitely hang.
Not “jokes,” really, but most of the time, I find stories at www.notalwaysright.com to be very funny.
Sometimes, they just make me stabby.
Okay, lots of mine already listed:
Lines from The Princess Bride
Lines from Monty Python
Fake lottery tickets
I have to ask for clarification. There seems to be a lot of dislike for Black comedians in certain contexts. (And to be clear, “White Chicks” and “Big Momma’s House” aren’t funny to me, either.) I call it the reverse-Midas touch: Anything that the lesser Wayans touch turns to shit.
Anyway… is it these particular “comedies” or just the fact that Black folks in comedies aren’t funny?
As noted upthread, it’s only when they pander to the “urban” market that they’re unfunny. To us in the suburban market anyway.
Did you know that suburban people drive like this and urban people drive like that?
I’ve never seen this joke. I don’t think I have anyway, do you have an example?
Mine is very similar to yours, I find bathroom humor, especially fart jokes, boring as hell. And like you, it’s not that I’m a prude, it’s that it’s just not funny or clever, it’s OLD and overdone, (again and again and again and again…). Any joke that could have been made up by two pimply-faced 13 year old boys out in back of the gym, while sneaking smokes is just stupid and scraping-the-bottom-of-the-barrel.
Dirty jokes can be funny, but they must be intelligent and clever to be so, most aren’t.
Mexican food and/or Taco Bell jokes
Pussy smelling/tasting like fish jokes
Taking a magic marker to someone who’s passed out drunk
Shows where someone hears someone else incorrectly and there’s a big misunderstanding played for laughs until the last possible second (this is probably why I was never a big fan of sitcoms).
Jon Stewart. I like some of the correspondents on The Daily Show on the odd occasions I catch them, but I can’t for the life of me understand Stewart’s popularity.
Oh it’s easy for me, just 2 words. “More cowbell” (Man did I think that skit was painfully unfunny.)
I think they’re insulting to black people. BUT, I thought White Chicks was actually kinda funny. That’s like, the only one though. They really did act like white girls (although the makeup clearly did not look like white girls)
Chris Rock had a bit about this on his old show, a recurring sketch about a comedian named Controversy LaRue. He’d say, “Black people read books like this. But white people read books like this!” and do some crazy shit, like dump a bucket of water on his head. It was hilarious because it made fun of this lazy observational “humor” that passes as comedy.
There are racial/cultural differences and with the right delivery, it can be funny. Watch some Richard Pryor concerts and you’ll see what I mean. But yeah, just saying that Black people smoke weed and white people have tight butts doesn’t do much for me.
the movies Borat and Bruno too.
I hate hate hate those!
Notice I don’t say Sacha Baron Cohen because I think he has genuine talent.
I guess you could lump me in the group that hates movies or shows where someone is always made to look stupid. Never funny IMHO.
I always think that Cohen will be famous later in his career for some real roles showing his talent, but it will be empty because no one will remember him for anything but his Borat and Ali G stuff.
While we are at it gross out movies involving someone doing something embarassing like shitting themselves are not funny either. How can that be funny?
Bridesmaids I am looking at you.
I’m the exact opposite. With only a few exceptions, I would prefer the entire show to avoid the skits and stick with the desk.
Pretty much every episode of “Three’s Company”. The entire genre of mistaken perception: Someone walks in on an innocent activity and thinks that its something else. It annoys me. Just explain what was going on and end the show in 5 minutes.
