At the risk of jinxing it, I’m feeling almost human. Coughing and sneezing has been minimal today and I think I only used 2 tissues all day. I’m going to splurge with mac-n-cheese for supper, altho what I really want is Chinese food - tugig’s pic didn’t help! Tomorrow, I shall venture out for groceries, and I’ll time my errand for lunch time so’s I can stop at the Golden Dragon!
Walking in a Rainy Wonderland.
**Apes **- I think your rain will be hitting us tomorrow. Just what I need while running errands…
So my Christmas Chicken is in the oven (herb mayo basted)
Other than the chickens we are having:
Green bean casserole
Cauliflower Casserole (this is the first year I am trying this, but I figured anything with cheese and bacon in it can’t be bad)
Smashed N.O.Ts
White Giblet Gravy
Parker House Rolls
Stove Top Stuffing (not really looking forward to that, but I have a whole bag of it so I need to get rid of it)
And Chocolate Silk Pie!!!
Good thing we are having company over to help us eat it
My dad is a life flight pilot out of WV and he says the NOAA is predicting snow here in Memphis in the early am tomorrow. Eek
Memphis does not ever do well in the snow. Half an inch on the ground and the city screeches to a halt, car wreaks all over the place, and pandemonium in the streets.
Cool!
Memphis Dope Fest in better weather.
The Nutcracker is on Ovation.
The sugar plum fairies are babes.
Er, sorry, Ladies.
Wow, she…gotta go.
I spent a winter in Memphis (OK, Millington, back when it was the Naval Air Technical Training Center) but I didn’t own a car, so I just had to deal with walking. You wanna know a place that goes batsh*t crazy over a dusting of snow - Jacksonville, FL! In the 18 years we lived there, it “snowed” twice, and all melted before noon, but lemme tell ya - auto body shops did really well! Around here, after the initial shock of “OMG!!! SNOW!!!”     most people remember that it’s not a huge deal, and they mostly do OK. It helps that our county does and outstanding job with keeping the roads cleared.
Chocolate silk pie, huh?? I don’t see a package from you on my porch labeled “Chocolate silk pie” - guess I know how *I *rate…
Mama Plant and I drove through Millington in the age of the dinosaurs, before the freeway, to visit my Grandmother in Finley, TN. I saw the sign for the Air Station, and even at a tender age wondered why the Navy had a station so far inland. Mama Plant made some vague mention of B-17s dropping bags of flour in bombing practice, and perhaps some boyfriend.
I just stuffed myself with a turkey dinner and yet another Caramilk. I think I’ve gained 20 pounds today.
It’s a store bought pie so don’t feel too left out
Howdy from da cave! Today was large and in charge. I had a great time celebratin’ Christmas with family. However, I am glad to be in da cave even if’n it means irk tomorrow. I’s tahrd and my very own bed will feel good tonight. I got gift cards for Lowe’s, Home Despot and :eek:Wally*World:eek: so all in all not a bad haul.
Midget that was cool! Thanks for sharin’ it with us.
Hope everyone has had a good day, celebratory or otherwise.
I know there’s more but I’s tahrd and my haid aches. I think an early bedtime is in order.
Nitey Nite Y’all!
Bah.
Humbug.
Oye vey.
Cat in a tree.
Film at 11.
FML
I suspect I might have caught your bug :(.
We went out and got dim sum yesterday, intentionally ordering enough to have plenty of leftovers for today.
Rainy day here, good time to watch the standard Christmas videos (which over here is “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “The Forgotten Carols”).
Snow.
F–king snow.
A ferret crawling inside my shoe.
We must go to work in the morning.
Oye.
F–king assisting in f–king cutting f–king ferret f–king toenails.
F–king snow.
What more could I f–king want?
Dinner was good. Grilled sirloin, tempura okra, corn on the cob for me, a sweet potato for Mrs. Plant v.3.0.
She thought the steak was ok, and surprisingly liked the okra.
A bath for the ferret, which, fortuitously, it was not necessary for me to participate in.
Did I dangle a participle? I would like to dangle a ferret.
Flytrap fell on the floor laughing
Suggestion for ya, you have a thread about Penguins. How about something like Turducken but made with a Ferret and Penguin wrapped in bacon. Nom Nom
Jim
The bar is calling my name, I called a cab
Cheers
I wonder what penguin would taste like. I think it’d taste fishy.
Have to add this…
Listening to NPR, a story about Christmas in Kolkata, India. The Jewish bakery makes fruitcakes for Hindus on Christmas. It is a huge deal, giant crowds etc. Now think about that for a second
**Jim **
The Navy didn’t fly B-17s. And in 1973-74 at least, the Millington base was where those of us who would go on to maintain Naval aircraft were trained, plus some other stuff that I didn’t care about. I went thru Basic Electricity and Electronics, Avionics “A” school, and advanced avionics school. Back in them days, they still taught vacuum tubes and such skills as soldering (which I sucked at.) We did a lot on antennas and I never did entirely understand the theory. Thus began my 37+ years of association with the Navy. Thanks for asking.
I think it’s time to turn off this machine and have some ice cream. With luck, I’ll sleep well tonight. Fingers crossed…
