July 11, 2024—a date which will live in (what's left of) democracy

When they do they get sent to a quite place where they cannot hurt themselves or others.

It won’t be quiet anymore once Trump gets there…

Oh my, then unfortunitly it might mean a rubber room, straight jacket and gag for him. Followed by electroshock treatments. That would be sad, grown men will weep.

Ghod, I am tired of hearing this half-truth over and over again. Did you forget the constant attacks he made on the judge, the prosecutors and their families, the disobeying of judge’s orders during the trial, and the attacks he made after sentencing and before sentencing…or do you think we forgot?

I think you normally go to jail immediately for contempt of court, not months later.

Well, when the president does it, that means that it is not illegal Sorry, when the president does it, that means it’s an official act.

The judge isn’t going to want to treat Trump like any other egregiously misbehaving defendant, because that would create the appearance of political bias. Comey applied similar reasoning.

Putting him in jail would certainly be one way to get the supreme court to rule on any appeal quickly, while leaving him our pending appeal will do the opposite

But, I think the problem is that the Supreme Court ruling basically said that prosecutors can’t even bring in official acts to provide context. This was the piece of it that was so egregious that Barrett parted company with the other 5 conservatives on that part (but, alas, 5 is enough to be the majority ruling). So, the idea is that the trial may have been tainted by references to official acts.

On the other hand, I heard a legal scholar (on Rachel Maddow, I think) say that even if some evidence that was presented is now ruled to be inadmissible, it does not necessarily mean that the verdict gets overturned. Merchan could still rule that the evidence that the jury did hear that is now technically inadmissible was not sufficiently crucial that it would be likely to have affected the verdict. (And, then I guess that ruling would be another basis on which Trump could subsequently put in the appeal to higher courts.)

“If it’s an official act, you’d think that they could serve better than tiny mushrooms.”

“…and small portions at that.”

You and I have very different ideas of cool.

He did NOT pay her for sex. He paid her for her silence.

Stormy Daniels is NOT a hooker! She is a professional actor, writer, and director. She had sex with “the orange turd” because she got herself in a situation she didn’t know how to get out of. She thought she was going to have dinner with the star of The Apprentice and would be put on the show. Then when she came out of the restroom “the orange turd” surprised her.

When they met up later in his penthouse, she appreciated that he seemed interested in the business aspects of the industry rather than the “sexy stuff.” He also suggested putting her on his TV show, “The Apprentice,” a possibility she hoped could help establish her as a writer and director.

I just wanted to defend her. She might not be everyone’s definition of morality, but she still wasn’t a hooker.

She outshines her one-time paramour via just being an OK person. I’ll take her morality over his.

Between the two of them, only Rump is the whore.

I know.

And it does sound like she got caught up in a strange situation. Still, she used her looks to try to get something. She couldn’t have been too surprised to get caught up in a ‘casting couch’ situation.

Perhaps Melania is worse. A simple gold digger. I do suspect that she and Trump share the same ethics. Namely none. Though Melania does seem to care about her son at least.

Both are different types of prostitutes. Just different types of payments than a street walker.

I put Daniels in the same category as many of Weinstein’s victims. She was pressured to have sex as a way to further her career and acquiesced to the demands.

I can’t find it now but I seem to remember an earlier version of the story related by Daniels shortly after it became news that after their encounter Trump attempted to pay her cash which she refused. Anybody else remember this?

I thought the allegations against Weinstein were more serious than convincing women to acquiesce to his demands.

I think they ran the Gamut between casting couch and full on rape. What Trump did to Daniels would probably fall somewhere in the middle.

Some things confuse me about these situations. Couldn’t Danials, a woman that worked out to keep toned for her career (an assumption on my part), kick Trumps ass?

I not trying to make light of the situation. But if push came to shove, I’d put my money on Daniels. Melania would get my bet too.

I VERY much doubt Trump has been mano a mano with any one, and his entire life shows quite a bit of cowardice. Most bullies are IMHO.

And again, please, I’m not second guessing these women for be caught into a strange situation.

Big security guard was standing just outside the door.
