June 24 Are you still waiting for the heat of a summer to start?

June 23 was the warmest day so far, it barely made it to 75, and cooled enough to require a sweater in the evening.

I’ve said before, I’m expecting news of the new ice age any day now.

No, I think most of us realized you messed up the poll answer format and just went with it anyway.

'Nother Arizona resident checking in. The applet on my computer says 104°. I would estimate that most days my office gets up to at least 85° from poor air circulation.

See that’s where I wanna be. Where’s the envy smiley?

I remember the intense heat over there; guess I must have felt the worst of it then.

Right now it’s 73F. Where is that 90F?

Arizona. It’s painfully hot out already, although only in the afternoon so far. I’ve already stopped letting my long-haired cat out while the sun’s up.

Just wait until August, when there’s enough heat that Phoenix traps it all in the concrete and blacktop and keeps the place baking overnight. :frowning:

We’re fixing to have to go to another funeral (hubby was pallbearer at one last week). Why people can’t have the deceny to die in winter-time I don’t know. Standing in 100-degree sun with 80% humidity in a black dress and panty hose is the stuff of nightmares.

112°F here yesterday.
So, no.

How can you possibly not see that the poll answers are messed up? It’s so clear and several people have pointed it out to you. Its annoying that you won’t admit its wrong or fix it. .

How about explaining it for those of us who don’t understand?

Well, I didn’t write the poll, but here’s how I understand the questions:

Enter 1 if you are experience typical summer weather where you live.
Enter 2 if the arrival of typical summer weather (i.e., hot days) has not yet arrived in your location.

Then why does 1 start with a “yes” when the poll question asks if we are waiting for typical summer weather? If we are waiting for it we can’t be experiencing it, can we? Clearly the answers contradict the question.

I answered the poll based on the literal statements in each answer (i.e. “the hot is here”). I wonder if everyone else who voted has done the same? I assume so based on the ratio of answers but with the replies in this thread I’m second guessing that assumption.

Edit to add: didn’t see Procrustus’ post until just now. Good to know I’m not alone.

  1. I don’t see a problem. To me you guys seem messed up.
  2. I can’t edit the poll if I did see a problem.
  3. Hi Opal!
  4. You shouldn’t get so upset over an insignificant poll.
  5. I won’t be losing any sleep over this poll.
  6. Soon you won’t have to watch it be taken, because it will be over and your blood pressure can go back down.
  7. Try to have a fun 4th regardless of this poll.

Oh, we all know what she means. It’s just her insistence that her questions aren’t worded wrong that’s annoying. Hence my request for her to explain her reasoning.

You seriously don’t see anything wrong with asking a question that is refuted by a positive answer? How would this seem to you?

POLL : Were you born in Europe?

  1. Yes, in a lovely hospital in downtown Chicago, Illinois.

  2. No, I was born in France.

I understood in context and indeed didn’t notice the contradiction until just now.

But now that you’ve noticed it, would you deny it exists, continue to deny it when questioned about it, and call the people who see the contradiction “messed up”?

I find it best to always deny everything.

Northern Baltimore here.

We roasted for about 2-3 weeks, with highs around 95 (and very humid). However, a cold front came through yesterday, so today the high is 80 and it’s absolutely gorgeous. We’re supposed to inch back up to the mid-90s this weekend, though.

June was unusually hot here. mid 90’s. that’s 5 or 6 degrees hotter than normal for June
