Yowza! … did you wake up on the wrong side of bitch or what!!!
Funny? yes.
a bit too far? that too.
I think if u had given it too her just b4 or just after she got off the bus it would have been just right, and she wouldn’t be possibly having nightmares over this. but then, after some of the outlandish(my word for the day) comments left on this thread, i think u could use a break. It’s in the past, can’t be changed, learn and forget
tidy piece of work my friend
Has anyone else noticed that most of the guys think what Freak did was funny, while the women are horrified? I guess it’s hard to identify with someone of the opposite gender, huh? I’m no different. It was funny as hell.
Lizard, I’m female and I thought it was pretty funny myself.
And why does everything eventually turn into a racial issue? “Insert the word ‘black’ in there somewhere”? Why?
“Don’t brag about it”? He isn’t bragging about it. He posted this because he feels guilty. He said so right in the OP.
From the OP: Now, the reason I’m posting this, is becase I feel just a little bit guilty. I mean, she was a yuppie to the max. She was snobbish. She was stuck-up. She was, to put it short, everything I hate. But she’s still human, and part of me still thinks I might have done wrong.
See? Feelings of guilt.
Sure thing. Cruelty’s funny, stupid prejudices are a scream, assault is a real knee-slapper, and terrifying a lone, innocent woman on a whim is f***ing hilarious.
Whoops! That didn’t really contribute anything, did it? Sorry about that (and I was responding, FWIW, to Lizard and not Silver_Fire).
:0 Catrandom
I do think that Freak’s post was a bit funny, but a little over the edge, and not something I’d recommend doing again. Lazarus’ post was less malicious, and, IMHO, funnier. Next time I’m in that situation, that’s probably what I’m gonna do.
Thanks ! …
Scary people are people too.
I thought it was a little funny as well, but following her instead of giving her the checkbook on the bus was taking it a bit too far.
If it’d been me, you’d have gotten a face full of pepperspray when I whirled around.
I hereby give this thread the award for “Most Baseless Misconceptual Responses”, and award Freak fifty SPOOFE points for writing the OP (by the way, SPOOFE points are worthless).
Some of the baseless responses include…
“I thought only conservatives judged people based on those criteria.”
“Vile hideous creepy behaviour with malice aforethought.”
“Maybe she is new to the area and scared riding the bus all by herself. Maybe she has been attacked before. Maybe she is shy.”
“Were you jealous because she has money? You were jealous because she looked successful? Were you jealous because no matter what you do, you will never be successful in your life?” (The real kicker)
“And if you DO do it again, don’t brag about it. It makes you look petty and small, full of disgusting hatred.”
And the like. So congratulations, all! And five SPOOFE points are automatically awarded to anyone who recognized that this entire post is very sarcastic!
(By the way, Freak, just for the record…I thought that was a very amusing tale.)
Dude. Methinks you live up to your name.
I for one think it was pretty fucking cool of you to return the cheque-book and credit cards.
And it just goes to show that not everyone who taps you on your shoulder is out to rape you.
IMO there was nothing whatever funny about the episode. IMO it shows nothing but bad taste, a streak of cruelty and a lot of immaturity. IMO, such behavior should be considered harrasment and stalking. I found myself wishing the woman in question had sent a very large, very mean, very skilled fist fighter type guy to point out the error of your ways.
It was very nice of you to return her checkbook, but next time please don’t pull something like that. Whether you think it’s justified or not, lots of women walk around in constant fear that they will be mugged, raped or worse. Even if you don’t care about her feelings, think about your own safety. Forget pepper spray, there are people out there carrying guns.
Next time, maybe you should just mail back the checkbook or hand it into the bank.
Am I the only one wondering why everybody assumes this woman is Yuppie scum and rich? She’s riding the bus. or is this some sort of parrallel universe where the status folk use mass transit as a show piece?
Anyhow. Why didn’t you give her the checkbook when you first saw her? Or, mail it to her. To follow her once you had established some knowledge in yourself that she was alarmed about you was over the top in my book.
to me, the first thing to have done was go to her directly and say “we get off the same bus stop. You dropped this yesterday, I hoped to see you today to return it”
You asked for opinions. here is mine. You did something nice by picking up the checkbook to return to her. You negated it by deliberatly creating a scarey encounter.
Yes, she was busy judging you based on limited knowledge, as did you. However, you ** engineered ** the situation. You made it a point to play upon her fears. that’s why your scene was NOT funny IMHO.
I think it would have been cute if it was Freaks grandmother that some fucking creep walked up behind and said
“Don’t you just hate it when scary people walk behind you late at night?”.
I thought I was done, but I’m not. You are a fucking creep of the highest order. All I can think of is when I had to ride the bus after being separated from my ex. I was so fucking scared to get off the bus in my new neighborhood- there had been rapes recently. I carried mace with my finger on the cap, ready to shoot. It was a terrible, unsettling experience. I can remember people staring at me on the bus and praying to God that they didn’t get off on my stop or follow me home.
That woman is probobly out now shopping for pepper spray, scared to run into you again. [piece edited by Zette for gratuitous, hateful wishes]
I know this isn’t the Pit, but I figure it’s on it’s way there anyway. Those are my thoughts.
Zette
PS Freak- If you really do feel bad, try apologizing to her. Next time you see her, let her know that you regret scaring her and that in retrospect it was really bad judgement. Then leave her the hell alone. Creep.

IMO people are taking far too many things seriously. IMO there are far too many people allowing themselves to become freaked by the media’s glamourization of all things terrible and nasty in this world. IMO too many people are allowing themselves to become scared and justify their own knee-jerk reaction to something that was meant as a slight joke. A cruel joke, yes, but a joke nonetheless. IMO, these knee-jerk reactions start off by touting horns of “Sexual predators”, “Stalking”, “Sexism”, “Racism”, and other legal or politically-correct 90’s buzzwords.
Freak, I like you. Every once in a while, you have to remind people to lighten up and not assume everyone is “after” you, against you, or determined to destroy harm, maim, kill, etc. The level of paranoia that people seem to be willing to put themselves through nowadays is truly making the world a less civil place.
You felt a tinge of guilt about what you did. Fine. Cool. This shows consideration; a trait that seems to be dwindling pretty fast in today’s world. You also had every intention to return to her the chequebook and credit cards because you knew their value. So, sure as heck, you’re good bloke.
I laughed from your story.
I also laugh at some of the responses you’ve gotten. Call me a sick bastard if you want, but, hey…
As confucious said:
“Don’t take life to seriously, you’re not coming out of it alive.”
…and as Dennis Miller always says,
“That’s just my opinion, I could be wrong.”

By what? purposefully trying to scare them? good method

Ok. Happy to oblige. You’re a sick bastard.
** “don’t take life to seriously, you’re not coming out of it alive.” **
of course not. In the meantime, I would just rather not have some twerp intentional scare me, just 'cause said twerp thinks I need an abject lesson in how nice and civil the world is.
** …and as Dennis Miller always says,

you are.
You might know yourself, but to her, you’re a stranger - and a pretty creepy one at that. Why cause a woman more grief than she’s worth?
I agree with the people on the board who abhorr what you did - I think it stinks and personally, I would’ve beat the crap out you. Didn’t your mother tell you not to walk up behind women and tap them on the shoulder? The correct ettiquette is to call after her, “Miss, miss?” until she turns around. Or give her her checkbook when she’s in a safe zone, as in surrounded by people on the bus. Geez, stop being so immature!
As for this gem:
[quote]
“Don’t you just hate it when scary people walk behind you late at night?”. [/q]
Only a total creep would say anything like that. Lazarus, you made me shudder - please stay faaaaaar away from me.
Earlier this week I left the house and left the side door and window door unlocked. I was with my friends enjoying Monday Night Football when I get a call from my sister who came home to an empty, black house with the doors unlocked. She was freaked and wanted me to come back and check things out. Even though I thought her a bit silly and I didn’t want to leave, I went home.
There I got into a discussion with her. One of the things that came up was how different men and women view things. Her and many of her friends are terrified of rape. That it is worse than even being murdered. I think almost nothing of it. It is a completely different mode of thinking.
Something to consider.
While I found the story funny and harmless initially, I have to agree with some of the female posts here that it went to far. But no harm done this time. Maybe next time something like this comes up, think a little more about what you’re doing. No one needs to feel like their life or worse is threatened no matter how terrible a person the “supposedly” are.
