I have been going crazy trying to locate what was a tv or radio commercial I heard, when I was younger. I’m 32.
I don’t remember what it was for or anything. The only thing I remember was a song in the background that seemed to be sung by Jimmy Durante or someone who sounds just like him.
I just remember the first part of the lyrics…and I’m not even sure they’re right.
It began with “Just a bit of magic, ooh you gotta see it” or “Just a little magic”, not sure which…I could have sworn it was Durante, but I can’t seem to find anything on Google about it. I know I’m not imagining, because I can play the tune on the piano and I didn’t make it up. And then at the end his last line was something like “Ahead of your head… I said.”
I remember a commercial with Durante singing this classic, but I don’t remember what it was for. There’s no mention of magic, but the song opens with “Fairy tales can come true, it can happen to you, if you’re young at heart,” and ends with “And here is the best part: you have a head start, if you are among the very young at heart.”
Jimmy Durante narrated Frosty the Snowman and sang the song of the same name in it, including the line
“There must have been some magic in that old hat they found…”
“Do You Believe in Magic” by The Lovin’ Spoonful has probably been used in a couple of ads. McDonald’s used a heavily bastardized version of it back in 1992. - YouTube
Not Jimmy Durante, but maybe what you were thinking of?
