Back in the very early 80’s there was a country song that included a line about sittin’ on the backporch just a’swangin’.
Can anybody remember the name of this song? I want to download for my 'pod.
Thx!

There’s a little girl in my neighborhood. Her name is Charlotte Johnson and she’s really looking good.
Swingin by John Anderson
[sub]I can’t believe I know this song.[/sub]
That would be “Swingin’” by one Cledus T. Judd.
John Anderson did it first. Cletus does it as a video, adding things to the original.
Ah. Well, Ah jus’ googled and it was the first hit. I remember the song well!
Yeah, probably because it’s a bit newer. When the John Anderson version first came out, it was treated by many Country radio stations as more of a novelty song ( a la The Streak) than as a Country song. 1982 was the year, btw.
Yep, used to hear those two along with “…sittin’ there on that sack o’ seeds.”
That would have been about the time you did your stint here… Our sacks were large and plentiful, but mostly devoid of seeds…
Oh, great. Now the flashbacks are starting again. :smack: I worked at the radio station in my home town (a country station) when that song came out. We got at least 2 requests an hour for “Swingin’” and at least 4 requests an hour for [sob]“Nobody” by Sylvia, whoever the hell Sylvia is.
Well your “Nobody” called today
She hung up when I asked her name
Whatever happened to Sylvia? I remember her turning down a million bucks to pose for Hustler. Bet she wishes she took it.
Does she think she is being clever?
He’s got some other hits, too - “Seminole Wind” and “Straight Tequila Night” to name a couple.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Clever. Ooohooh.

I always thought those lyrics were kind of clever, at least the part that goes “I can love you like Nobody can…even better.”
We have a station here that does CCSN (Classic Country Saturday Night) and I just love it!
One bad thing, tho: I have a hard time accepting songs that came out after I graduated high school as being classic or oldies.
:: le sigh ::
So tonight I’m sittin at home
Diggin up bones
I was ridin’ on my 10-speed
When my supporter broke
I don’t have to tell you
What got hung up in the spokes
Cuz it was swingin’ …
Sylvia’s mother says Sylvia’s busy, too busy to come to the phone…
Is she rolling up a garden hose? eatin’ chocolate pie? cuttin’ chicken up to fry?
