Blurf. Tired. I need to stop playing Civ IV until oh-god-thirty in the morning. But it’s addictive.
BooFae - You have never played WoW, have you? I’m mostly recovered, but I can tell you with one hundred percent certainty it is VERY easy to play that game til 4am even when you have been bored since 8pm the night before. The “just one more” state of mind is a powerful thing. Whether it’s farming gold or materials, or raiding, or just hanging out in game and chatting with friends and guildies, your arbitrary stopping point inevitably keeps getting pushed further and further back and you are forever “almost done”.
Doggio - I have been asked, politely but firmly, to please leave an all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet. Only once, but still.
Nava, Haze - Girls who are into gaming are 300% hotter than non-gamer chicks. It’s a scientific fact, based on a comprehensive survey of almost two of my gamer friends.
Had Mechanics of Materials at 9am this morning. I am suddenly and thoroughly reminded of exactly how much I hate Statics - there is no such thing as a Statics problem with less than 18 steps in the solution, and MoM is Statics with another layer of math. i.e. Statics asks you to “find the horizontal and vertical components of the forces acting on all the beams and joints in a truss”, for example, while MoM asks you to do the same thing and then combine your results with information about the material said truss is made from -information like tensile strength, shear strength, modulus of elasticity, whatever - and then determine whether the whole lot is going to come crashing down.
Very important, yes, but also mindnumbingly boring and tedious.
After MoM was Technical Writing. Pointless exercises assigned by a quiet mumbly professor with a thick accent; most people in the class can’t hear/understand half of what he says. Oh well, my roomie Alex is in the same class (purely by coincidence, we did not sign up together) so we can work together to translate from Mumble to English and get the work done.
That class ended at 11am, at which point I picked up lunch and headed back to my room to eat and surf the 'net. I have Statistics at 1pm, then I’m done for the day, so at least today isn’t as loaded as Wednesday.
OK, gotta go eat now, before it’s time to split. I have half an hour. Lunch is a turkey-bacon-ranch sub. noms sub Mmmmmmm, sub.
Back later!
