Just curious about banned poster's posts disappearing.

I am NOT trying to be nosey about why anyone got banned. It’s possible my mind is playing tricks on me, but in the “Attention Ho” thread (which I’ve been checking regluarly - LOL BTW, all you attention ho’s) a new poster called “Picasso Feet” or something like that posted several times.

Now, Picasso Feet has been banned, and I’m not concerned about why, but I’ve noticed that several of this person’s posts I think I remember from that thread are now gone. I remember them as being slightly disjointed, but not offensive in any way that I can clearly discern from memory. Or, like I said, I’m hallucinating. It’s finals week, so I have an excuse.

So what happened to Picasso Feet’s lost posts? I don’t even know why, but I’m extremely, extremely curious.

Generally a banned troll’s posts get deleted. Chances are Picasso Feet was a known troll.

It seems to be simply a policy of the board mods and admins.

I see that next to Picasso Feet’s name it says “18 posts,” but clicking on “Find all posts by Picasso Feet” turns up only 15.

I removed some of the banned poster’s posts. My internet connection went down last night, and I haven’t really gotten back to work yet today. It was someone who didn’t want to pay the subscription fee, and decided to re-register instead.

For the Straight Dope

The general policy is that posts from trolls (or from multiple-named jerks) are deleted. If we left such posts up, it would be an invitation to these critters to continue their bad behavior. By disappearing the posts, we are trying to see to it that there is no “reward” for bad behavior.

Sometimes, this causes hiccoughs in the smooth flow of conversations, of course, or in memory spasms as per the OP here. We’re sorry about that, but that’s the fault of the trolls and jerks.

Thanks for the quick answers! I’m straightened out now
