I usually have my personal syadmin (DH) do my stuff for me, but he’s atill asleep. Why, when I google the link, does it not show up?

I think it is because the SDMB doesn’t allow spiders to crawl this site and archive it, since it is pay to post/be able to search the archives. I am not certain of this though. Also, if you highlight the word you want to become a link, then click the link icon (ninth option from the left in the reply field) you will get a popup menu that will allow you to specify the word, then paste in the link. Like this, see? 
Take a look at how many posts I have, and how long I’ve been here. My post average is about 3 posts per day, which isn’t a lot but not as little as they post. That’s why they don’t recall at the moment how to post links, I’d bet. 
(You’ve been here not even 1/5th of the time they have, and already have between 1/4 and 1/3 of their number of posts, roughly…)
