Just when you thought neighbors couldn't think of new ways to be annoying...

Only in the sense that snails, in general, are unfit to eat. The most commonly seen ‘big’ snails in UK gardens are the second-favourite culinary species for the French.

You have to purge them, then add whatever flavour you want them to taste of - usually garlic and butter - land snails don’t naturally have much of a flavour.

One or the other of those would be a tribute band, surely…

Considering your screen name, I am not surprised. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, but it only really works with the Burgundy snails, the escargot kind, right? Because I know my mum knows how to prepare those, and she did that with the little ones we had in the garden, and they just didn’t taste nice.

The common UK garden snail is known to the French as ‘petit gris’ (little grey). It’s the second best edible land snail in their estimation.

The snails that invaded my garden here in Jakarta make an unearthly wailing sound while dying. It’s not for the faint of heart. But as payback time for the desecration of my basil and sweet potatoes, it’s pretty satisfying.

Hmmmm…invertebrates making sounds…that’s a new one on me.

Just be sure to cook them really thoroughly - snails are the intermediate host for lungworms. Medium rare snails are off the menu

I myself would save it for the yummy mummies who block our driveway during the school run every morning…hmm, you don’t live near Hampshire, do you?
